I found this small onyx pendant while I was out today, and am going to get it looked at but it got my wheels turning. Has anyone here had experience flipping jewelry? Interested in hearing stories, and advice for those who want to start.

Try /biz/, I'm sure they'll tell you how to get it exchanged for bitcoins.

pawn shops are only good if you want the lowest payment for simple melt weight. i have one that i loan my stuff out to a local pawn shop and buy it back with 10% interest.
etsy and such are okay for cheap bead jewelry. i see people post gold to letgo, offerup, and things like that but it's not likely they sell anything because not many people are willing to go out and spend $100+ on jewelry from randos.
you should look into crafting and repair.
all the jewelers i know also do repair work.

speaking of buying from randos, you should learn how to tell what's real and what's not. monet makes really good fakes, i've been fooled a few times.
