Anyone know of a good tutorial on how to get a finish on saw rough granite?

I just got a bunch of labrador emerald pearl granite, but it is only polished on the surface and I cannot seem to find a good tutorial on how to polish it from ground up in ger.
Since I do not know what the right search terms for this would be in english I thought about asking you guys.

Thank you for your help!

If you have an angle grinder invest in an adhesive sandpaper backer and lots of sandpaper, 60-1000 grit. You can still get a nice shine without using stones and wet pads. Keep in mind you're going to have to work the stone longer than you would a piece metal or wood.

Thank you!
I am kinda insecure, especially on technical terms.
I also got a temporary ban when I had a man behind the ger.

Lower rpm with more torque right?
Can I round edges like that aswell or should that be done differently?

Sticky paper sucks my dick. Go to a hardware store and get a good quality da sander and the velcro paper
>>
OP here.
I have wet paper from 800 up to 3000 availabe, which is said to be for use on paint and coating and so on.
I got lower rated ones that are not for wet use, all the way down to 40.

Can I use these for manual tests?
>>
>>1221943
Sure.

The granite countertop guys i always see jisy ise a da sander and sand for fucking days. You get down to 3,000 you may as well wash it and use some car wax or polish or something.
>>
Okay, thank you all!

I will try this and see what result I can get on a first test.
With a small piece of wood left and right I can just mount one of the smaller plates in my vice and test it.

Yes just knock down the top and bottom edge slightly so it's not sharp, it's what we call an eased edge. We'll use angle grinder when we are sanding dry for the power but if you have wet paper like you mentioned that can be done with an da sander no problem. And a 3000 grit with will give it a mirror finish with water
>>
>>1221943
The sand paper might not be aggressive enough for stone if it's for paint, worth a test run at least
>>
>>1222031
I forgot to mention this, but it seems important.
The bottom of my plates is rather coarse, while the saw cut sides are mellow or have satin like feeling.

By the way, I heard people used granite as a pizza stone.
How should the surface be for that?
>>
>>1222235
The bottom is rough like that because they use a gang saw with a diamond cord to cut the granite from large cubes into slabs. The blade will make a smoother finish.
As to using it as a pizza plate, granite will crack if put under too much heat stress
>>
>>1221923
Sticky paper is much cheaper than velcro and does the same job. You're going to use lots of sandpaper so no sense in wasting money rookie

So yeah, chamfering/easing works well. Dont try to round it over by hand, you can do a consistent 45 degree without too much trouble, especially if you only do it a little so you can't see it only feel it, but you'll get flat edges that aren't consistent in size if you get more complicated than that. Another option would be a diamond abrasive bit in a router, you can do either an easy consistent deeper chamfer or you can do a roundover depending on the bit.

best practices are to put the stone into the oven while it preheats, cook the pizza on it, and leave it in the oven as it cools. another good use for granite offcuts is in bread bowls, heated in an oven to 200 degrees and placed into the bottom of a wooden bread bowl to keep bread warm.
>>
>>1222754
Hmm I thought granite is used because as volcanic stone it is less like crack compared to marmor.

>>1222765
Will try that with one of the slabs I got as an extra.

I tried today to see how well this works with paper and doing everything by hand.
In the end I realised I did not do enough work with the first, rougher stages of paper.
I would say it works and looks better than the saw cut, but I forgot to make a picture (will post one later).

By the way I went through the stages of:
60, 80, 120, 150, 180, 240, 360, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1200, 1500, 2000 and 3000
