I have this stainless exhaust system. How can i clean up the header to make it shine like the rest of the system. It seems to be burnt or dirt or roadtar stuck to it making this so difficult. Ive tried using steel wool with minimal results and 220 grit sandpaper seemed to work but takes forever. Is there a better way to do this?
Also general metal finishing tips
She's pretty fucked mate. Its going to take a long time to get it back to polished. If you had some very specific tools like a Dynabrade or a railing polisher belt sander it would be easier but I think you are kinda stuck. I'd get the bitch blasted and ceramic coated.
Bead blast then polish.

Solvent.
Rub some petrol/gas on it.
Heres my test run with 220 on a sander. Dont really have an easy way of getting the curves.
Here is a better picture of the dirt or road tar or whatever is causing the problem
And heres a part that didnt really get as bad as the rest you can see the polish stainless under although a bit burnt

Just wrap it and go on main
