I take dropping threads around here very seriously. I decided this one could die.

So I built a boat after lusting after a tiny wooden boat for weeks.
It is still being made into a better one (fixing laziness, poor calls, and impatience feom earlier), but I've spent about 10 hours in it so far and it does exactly what it is supposed to do. I thought I would share.

The first time that I realized that having no idea about boatbuilding would be a major handicap was attaching the stem.
The directions were geared more towards experienced builders, and left a lot assumed. I am still fixing this mistake because I had no idea how to actually attach the sides and make sure that they seal and are properly mirrored. I am still not sure, but I know one way to not do it.

Working on it. Typing walls.

Once I had assembled the frame that goes near the middle (totally had only 2 dimensions on it so I winged it. I am happy with it.) I learned that the sides were not quite perfect, and as I got the transom set on the sides I could see a little bit of twist in the whole thing. Not fatal, but I can see it.

I was sitting and admiring the things at the bow that were troublesome before adding the chine logs and didn't have any dimensions on them except for the angle to rip them at. My impatience kicked in there and I ripped them at different thicknesses (because the first one was hard to attach and I figured I could thin it) which is still a head scratcher for me.

I'm gonna crash, but I'll check in tomorrow. I'll be working on it off and on. It just can't be this ugly forever.
This was right when it was ready for a test run and I was feeling fixing it once I saw it work.

Nice submarine anon. I'll tell the shrimp to bring cutlery and a napkin

There's no way in hell that short ass boat will hold more than 100-150 pounds, assuming it doesn't leak

Really?
Cuz I have about 5 inches of freeboard at 180 plus about twenty in gear.
Portable boats are a thing.
Duckworksbbs.com is a great resource.

I wouldn't run it in choppy water, but for little creeks and bayous it is pretty killer.

Alright. I'm going to remove those external chine logs. They are just a pain and I can run interior ones really easily.
I have to figure out how to remove this silicone and latex paint from the interior seam... I think I'll just pull out all of the screws first and see what happens. I used polyurethane construction adhesive until I ran out and then used weldwood to hold the bottom on.
I'm going to change my method of holding it together and sealing it to titebond 3 and fiberglass tape (if I can get this stuff out of the way).

Silicone sucks. Nothing sticks to it and it is really hard to remove.

No pics, but here is a materials list for another boat that I am going to attempt with my newfound knowledge.

I pulled every screw that is in this pouch from that boat without it falling apart.

I think I overdid it.

It needed to be prettier. And tougher.

I started fiberglassing the bottom as the sun went down today. Before that I took a belt sander to the chines and gave them a much smoother appearance because they were freaking ugly.
>>
I'm sure that I'll hear some sort of raving for not using epoxy, but I used titebond 3 to re-seal it and to glass it. It's like magic glue. I've never met its equal.
>>
Glue holding the fibreglass was just barely not dry after twelve hours and it rained unexpectedley... for four hours.

I gave it a day to dry, and it looks good. Surprised me. I mean solid, not good. It's still ugly as fuck.

Pics once I get back there today.
It is possibly the ugliest thing that floats. I don't know if cubans would even want it.
The water performance should be much better now though.

I'm moving to installing gunwales and a seat. And whatever the little brace on top of the stem is.

Gotta take another one of the bottom.
Getting gunwales and the seat and other reinforcements done.

Gud fuxkin jab m8. You did something productive instead of being a lazy piece of shit and wasting you life watching dumb ass tv. Kudos, she floats what more do you want. Not sure where you're at but in Texas you have to register any motorized boat, including if you only use a trolling motor. Might look into that, not worth a ticket.
>>
>>1222056
Same in arkansas.
And for any craft over 16 feet.

And I have to have a boating license if I add a trolling motor.
I'm using a kayak paddle right now. It's fucking nimble. And only about 35 pounds now that I beefed it up.
>>
We name all of our small skiffs "the minnow", no matter if it's minnow four or ten.

Looks good, OP.
>>
>>1222620
It was almost the mighty minnow.
I think it will be Kraj.
