Sup /diy/ what chinkshit did I buy at the thrift store?
got this partial coffee table to re-top with pallet wood and sell to hipsters for $200-300.
but what the fuck is this thing under it?
the fan looks like some incredibly janky shit made by stamping vanes into a circular disk, and it seems like there's heating elements going around the edges.
okay, i didn't notice the heating elements before.. i guess it could be something to keep food warm and/or use collect insurance on your house after it burns your house down
if no one can help i'll take this to the local chinese restaurant and see if one of the mamasans will translate the moonrunes for $2

Dubs of truth, thanks m9

>re-top with pallet wood and sell to hipsters
worth way more as a cockasue
>>1218074
I'll leave the cokkasoo parts intact if they want to burn their shitty loft apartment down
>>1218025
that's floor son
I had one while I was stationed in Japan. The idea is to put a blanket on top of the table and everybody sit around it keep their legs warm to save on heating bills.
Awesome for playing board games on in the winter.
>>1218168
>use an horribly ineffective heating device to ostensibly save money = autism
>board games = autism
It fits!
>>1218028
530W to heat your balls?
>>1218179
>traveling the world and experimenting with other culture's traditions
>having friends that don't require an internet connection
Holy shit, you might be onto something.
You should go back and find the power cord, then sell it plus the heater as a package if you decide to scrap them out. They're a pain in the ass to find here, you could probably get like 50-75 bucks.
>>1218179
>horribly ineffective
>keeps an otherwise unheated and uninsulated room comfy at an expenditure of 300-500 watts
Anon, leave your 'tisms safe space. Try new things. A lot of them work well.

Checked
this thread is really funny lol do you guys mind if i take a screenshot?
>>1218274
>visit land with paper thin walls and under table heaters
>try autistic lifestyle out
>assimilate into culture and become hiki
So guys, for maximum hipster profit, should I re-top this thing so it can be used as a cockumi? I'm guessing that means the top has to lift free so you can put a comforter in between.
>>1218330
>should I re-top this thing so it can be used as a cockumi?
Strictly speaking, it never had a top to begin with. That's why you don't see any remnants of glue or fasteners/holes on it. The top just rests on the blanket, which just sits on the cockatoo.
>>1218345
god thats gay as fuck. How did the chinks ever live with garbage like this?
>>1218345
Hm, so I have to fit the tolerances so it'll nestle firmly into the bottom part with a thick comforter in between it. Not impossible.
Thinking about getting a box of Bamboo flooring from Lumber Liquidators and making the top out of that, really hype up the aZn mYstIqUe oH sO SpiRiTuAL shit.
I only have $5 in this whackadomi and apparently this thing is $300 on various chink shopping sites, although that does include the top and possibly a smallpox blanket
>>1218361
We all know that they're just overcharging for importing hipster weeb bullshit.
>>1218361
It doesn't usually nestle in, it usually just rests on by weight and maybe a very slight rim. Bamboo sounds okay, though, it should stand up well to any sustained low heat.
Mine's in my attic right now because it's summer, I'll see if can pull it down and take photos of how it fits together.
>>1218179
They don't have central heating in glorious nippon.
>>1218168
>ineffective
how exactly? It heats just a very small volume of air where the people are, unlike traditional heating, where you heat the entire house/room, despite the ppl being only a small part of that room...
Okay, about to start putting together a top for this thing. Downside is I may have to spend $24 on 3/4" plywood or $20 on OSB. Not thrilled.. it'll raise my investment. Originally I was just going to nailgun pallet slats all over the top and call it a day, but fuck if I can advertise it as a "functioning wapanese kockastso, refurbished with salvaged barnwood" and write up some bullshit about families in weebland traditionally coming together in winter months etc, that's better than "shitty oversized coffee table with repurposed wood replacing the top"
>>1220811
AH HAH! I have two pieces of 1/2" plywood currently holding up all the shit I bought from a closing down Radioshack for $20 a box- when the end times come, I will be the warlord with hundreds of HDMI cables, converters, aux cables, and RCA plugs.
I'll just rip them to fit. If I were a professional I'd biscuit join them together to make the unified 41"x29" piece I need, but just connecting them together with a seam of Great Stuff should work.
Op got any tips for someone looking to get into restoring shit to sell? My main questions are 1)where to source shit to fix up? 2) where to sell said shit for dank profit? I can figure out the wood working bits, just not sure how to get into it. Do you just post on Craigslist or fb trading pages?
>>1220866
Check this thread, it'll live on after this one:
>>1219371
I get a lot of my shit from goodwill tho, the other charity & thrift stores generally don't want to sell obviously broken or incomplete furniture.
Haven't really needed to look beyond that yet, also I've helped demo a few buildings in exchange for free lumber from it
>>1218025
Looks like the bottom to an ottomon of some
>>1220867
Thanks op, going to go look tomorrow see what I can find. I have some shit laying around I could probably make hipster enough too.
advanced precision technique for measuring plywood to fit, do this and they'll know you're a pro
fuck I need to get a table saw.
but the pallet slats I'm using for edging are warped so we're gonna play mix n match until it all lines up and looks like I did it on purpose
coming along as planned, laminate actually looks good
gotta post something to my snap so i get some offers from bored housewives and retarded hipsters who follow me cause beard & chainsaws
remember, guys who post fitness shit lie about cheating with roids, girls who post fitness shit lie about their liposuction & female roids (anavar lolololzozlzolz), that chick who makes jewelry buys her shit from china, the kid selling molly bought HIS shit from china, etc
if you ain't cheating you're going to be eclipsed by all the people who are
this is how you stage hipster bait product photos btw
also gonna make Jetsam coasters become a thing, watch me
>>1221297
fuck how did i miss this
>>1221304
off topic, but does anyone know the name of that style of boot?
>>1221321
"Madden" boots that I got at a store on clearance for $20. I've had one pair before, comfy but no durability. Glued them back together and practiced my gun painting on them, so now they look like camouflaged navy seal M16s, but boots.
>>1221321
oh shit you wanted to know the style.
uh, hipster boots I guess
>>1221317
Character, m8. They'll shiplap it right up.
shits about to get real.
>>1221335

Always remember to check your nailgun if you haven't used it in a while. Remove any expired nails & discard them.
Ran into some warping of the plywood which skewed the level a little, but here's the neat thing about starting your frameup with 18ga finishing nails: you can stomp it into shape, and it still holds together long enough to start forcing glue into shit.
I could have done this correctly in a lot of ways but I'm minimizing my effort and investment. For example I haven't even gotten out the Kregs set or anything.
I'm just going to fill the gaps with gorilla wood glue. Works every time.
oh right here's the top on the cuckoldsu
How much are you going to sell it for?
