I'm restoring and cleaning my dads old Shanghai/SMK B2 pellet gun (.177). I just ordered a new, stronger spring and a set of piston seals. I'm unsure whether these will be like the original leather or rubber seals. What can I use to oil/lube the spring and seals?

Pneumatic lubricant. Just don't use WD40.

Whats closest to pneumatic lubricant? Mineral motor oil? Silicone gel? Universal grease?

WD40
>>
use regular vaseline maybe petroleum jelly in english

'air tool' oil maybe?, wherever they sell air compressors and air tools

they sell silicone grease in little lip balm type containers in the faucet section

When do you expect them? Either describe the material here or make a new thread if this one is gone.

This guy says the main thing is that leather needs a lot more oiling than synthetic seals. He doesn't mention rubber seals.

No don't use WD40
WD means Water Displacement, you use this if you are camping and you dropped the thing in water and can't get it apart there.

Use a heavy grease on the spring
And for seals and metal I use 3 in1 or better yet use an liquid that has nylon in it (look for it in a gun store/ section)

White Lithium grease worked great for my aeg airsoft gun... leave a thin films and whip away excess.

Assuming you're even still monitoring this thread, Pelgun Oil by Crossman is specifically designed for air rifles.

You can find it on Amazon or in the airgun section at Walmart, I think the instructions call for a drop on all seals and moving parts every 500 pellets or so.

I'm not sure how it differs chemically from any other oil out there but it's dirt cheap and it works. I just use regular hi temp grease on my real guns but for the seals in airguns a runnier lubricant like Pelgun oil is probably better.
