Thats not very cheap at all. Can you reccomend one thats fairly light, can cut a 2x4, does accurate angles and will last a lifetime?
I dint care about sliding shit.

I've been using this for everything. It's small, so it doesn't cut all the way through everything, but it's perfect for 2x4s and standard height moulding

I just bought a house and need a miter saw for some projects and trim work. I already have a table saw so I don't need a big 12" slider.

People suggested the Ryobi 10" slider but after checking it out in person it's just too flexy and cheap feeling. Ridgid stopped making their 10" slider.

What do you think of the 8.5" sliders like the Bosch CM8s or Makita in the same size?
>>

If you want the cheapest thing then >>1206373
has you covered. Or you can look on craigslist/facebook marketplace for a used one.
>>
>>1206375

Depends on your budget.
>>
>>1206377

$500 or less preferably. The problem with 12" sliders is space. It's not a tool I'll use a ton between having a table saw and hypoid saw with a guide but I still want something that's quality and cuts straight. The Ryobi base and blade flexed 3-4mm side to side without much force. I have no problem going used too.

I got a Goodell from a ReStore for $20 with a Disston saw. The blade was still sharp and it cuts very accurate miters. Not a single piece of plastic on it. It has already lasted a lifetime and it's probably got 2 or three more in it.

The reason I (OP) bought the bosch miter saw was because you can put them up against the wall since it doesn't use linear bearings for its sliding mechanism. The 10 inch version is $550 and probably worth it if you're going to use it a lot and have space issues.

And here's a picture when I'm not putting the link in the wrong field. This is a Stanley but just about any miter saw from that era with similar construction will be rock solid.

>>1206385

Can confirm that these are a cheap AND accurate way to go.
>>
>>1206384
Thanks for showing me that. It's kind of perfect since it also uses the same blades as my table saw.

Build a crosscut sled
No need at all for a Miter saw when you have a table saw

is this table saw any good? i see people on youtube use it
>>
>>1206400
You just put a miter jig into your crosscut sled.
Its really not that hard to build a sled to do literally every single operation your miter saw would.
>>
>>1206923
It has an acceptable fence, belt drive, and a cast iron top which are three of the most important things in a table saw.
Itd be a decent beginning table saw. That or the similarly priced cast iron top Delta saw they have at Lowes.

They blow away the cheap $100 table saws. The top, weight, belt, and fence will also be superior to new "jobsite" saws (which can also get expensive) which are made to be portable and moved a lot.

Its essentially a modern evolution of the old Craftsman 315 table saw. Emerson who makes the Rigid made the Craftsman 315 and is similar
You can find a 315 on craigslist for $100

> That or the similarly priced cast iron top Delta saw they have at Lowes

The delta is NOT belt driven FWIW
>>
>>1206934
Can you build a sled that makes the table saw easy to carry outside and cut 12ft 2x4?
>>
Does anyone have any suggestions for a good entry level cordless impact wrench? Need it for working on my truck - taking off lug nuts, the bumpers, running boards, etc.
Also, can anyone recommend a decent torque wrench that will last but won't cost an arm and a leg?
>>
>>1207070
Find a used makita drill and impact driver set, as for the torque wrench, I bought a craftsman one in the 90s, I dont use it much though.
>>
>>1206355
Got 2 incomplete sets of standard wera nutdrivers from a garage sell for 1$
>>
if money isn't an issue, it's generally agreed upon that festool has the best cordless drills right?
>>
>>1207121
I don't think so. If i was in the mood to be stupid spendy on drills i would get something from snap-on instead of festool.
>>
>>1206985
I crosscut 8 ft 2x 4s on my saw all the time. I honestly don't know what you are trying to get at. I own a miter saw and rarely used the thing once u started making jigs and sleds.
Besudes If you don't have room to be cutting 2x4s in your garage, you probably don't have room for a table saw in the first place. That's not a knock on the pure functionality and versatility of the saw

>owning both Dewalt and Milwaukee cordless
race_mixing.jpg

This is degeneracy. What next. Do you also have a Makita charging station?
>>
>>1207198
Theres tons of shit wrong with that photo.
>Retarded ammount of chisels for a non woodworking specific shop
>Peg board
>Exposed electrical boxes
>Shelves by workbench
Its just a shitty shop.
>>
>>1207200
W-what's wrong with pegboard?
>>
>>1207259

Pegboard is fine. the only thing wrong with that pic is that it looks like he just buys tools and never actually uses them.
>>
>>1207259
Pegs, having a plywood backer and custom tool holders is the best way, if you need pegs just use a screw. Also fuck french cleats.
>>
>>1207070
If it's not something you're going to be using very often, get a beam-style torque wrench. You pretty much never have to get it calibrated.
>>
>>1207267
So basically you just don't like it? Also, custom tool holders for screwdrivers and such is wasteful if you're a small home shop. Practicality is king in diy
