Want to cut a mirror for a table, pic related is what I've done. How can I alternatively cut glass?

A glass cutter just puts stress on the glass as it rolls over it. You oil the wheel to prevent friction against the glass. The wheel is metal and while not sharp, it does come to a point. The wheel is key for making the score line. That is the rolling motion, not sliding motion is the key. Anything that does that can cut glass, just practice on some scrap first.
As for actual alternatives? A grinding wheel on a Dremel. You'd need to use a flow of water over it to prevent glass dust and heating. Practice lots and take proper breaks for your hands and for the tool to cool.
I highly suggest you buy a glass cutter. They are extremely cheap and super easy to use.

Glass can score glass

clamp a board across the length you need and snap the excess off. It will fracture along the board
Score the glass with an awl or something. The rolly things are better but it's not like glass doesnt scratch. Score lines are your friend with any material.
just use a hammer. sheesh. sometimes the easy solutions are the best ones
