I don't know where else to put this so I'm posting on /diy/.
Sorry if this doesn't belong here.

I'm trying to figure out how to style a medieval-ish room and I'm wondering about the curtains used on the walls in the pic attached. What is the purpose of hanging curtains on walls without a window and what is this style, etc.

I don't know about in video games. It was likely because some artistic type thought it looked good.
Picture related is a real example, though. The Shakers did it because old homes were draughty as fuck. The curtains cut down on the draughts and helped insulate the walls a bit more in the winter.
That does help. Thanks.

What makes you think it's a curtain? It could be a blanket drying by the fire. Or, ya know, you could hit up the guy who made the image and ask him, his name is right fucking there..

Okay, fine but only one of these "not curtains" is by the fire.
Sorry I annoyed you.
Tapestries were used to both insulate the room, as walls were either thin wattle-&-dawn (letting in the cold) or thick stone (remaining cold and sometimes damp), and to act as decorations. Consider them the forerunner of both wallpaper and cavity wall insulation.
Can we rename this fucking board already, im fucking tired of all this "didnt know where to post this" shit.

We have one, it's called /wsr/, its just that cunts are too dumb to put two and two together and fuck off over there. This really should have been in /sqt/ if OP insisted on posting here.
Hide the thread and move along if it rustles you that hard.

Yes, which would imply it's not a fucking curtain.
