i shimmed the hinges but it didn't make a differnece.

Is this bait, or do you actually live like this?
>>
Countersink drywall screws into the top of the jamb. Be sure not to putty the hole, it will take away from the look you're going for in the rest of the house
>>
>>1198251
demount (remove door from hinges)
chop into firewood using underside of hand
leave entrance open, someone may sneak in and clean the place
ps - I think your cat maybe found a crowbar/badly attached plywood sheet prying implement and fucked off. Just in case you were wondering, or anything.

I finally fixed my sink today so that I can use both sides.

Thank you. I really hate plumbing but this actually came out better than I expected. I had to decide whether to use 1/4 plexiglass or 1/8 lexan. I went with the lexan because it's more flexible, and that paid off since the sink bottom is not actually flat.

>Not everyone is wealthy

I feel you OP, whether you are just posting for real or if its bait.
Regardless, I took a quick look at your first pic and it immediately brought me back to my childhood.
When you live in a run down place and dont have a lot of money, you dont feel the importance of cleaning and things just get bad. Its a slow ride, eventually you are just living in filth but you dont really care as its the norm.

Its a really hard habit to break.

I implore you to spend a couple minutes a day cleaning just this or that, when you see something dirty just quickly wipe it down.

Eventually your place will be a whole lot cleaner from not a lot of work.
Having a clean house DOES improve your overall well being. Everyone says it, but Ive experienced it first hand.

Some things are just "it is what it is" and you have to live with it. I get that.
But there is no reason you cant throw some dish soap on a rag and wipe the dirt off your door and shades.

>>
>>1198296

you can literally get quality appliances and fixtures for _free_ off CL. you're just a degenerate for living in such a shithole. no sane person would consider that acceptable. it literally makes me sick looking at those 3rd world deplorable conditions, dont you have any self respect?
>>
>>1198314
>dont you have any self respect?

when I checked the sinks at Lowes they were expensive and were not exactly the right size, and I didn't want to have to replace the counter top.

Are you this snobbish IRL? There's nothing wrong with being not wealthy.

Easier fix: get some BIG, long screws and replace all your shitty brass door screws with the big ones. This should pull the door together and hopefully fix it. (Drill a small pilot hole first so you don't split the door or frame)
Second is to just replace the hinges. Either buy new ones or ask your neighbors, anyone with tools has extra door hinges.
Third: figure out where the door is rubbing and not closing. Take a circular saw and "sand" it down using the blade. (Or could use an actual sander but u don't know what tools you got). This can look just fine if you are really good about it or turn out terrible and leave a ugly notch in your door.
Also curious as to where in the world you live

>>1198317
Thank you for an actual answer. I really appreciate it. I will try that.

Also, clean the door. Just cuz you may be poor don't mean you have to be dirty. Water and a rag will do wonders.

Thanks. I live by myself and get a kick out of salvaging things to the extreme. My washer and dryer are 1972 models where nothing much works anymore except the basic functions. Filling the washer by hand using 5 gallon buckets is good exercise too.

kijiji, craigslist, habitat for humanity, value village, or goodwill and you could have picked up a gently used sink for what the lexan and caulking cost you which would look 1000 times better and wont leak after 3 months when you fill it up with water

I doubt his trailer has real doors, probably one of those cardboard pieces of shit.
>>
>>1198390

I have to get some pipes to redo the drain since it's higher now.

>>1198402

I used diamond dremel to cut through the enamel, then drilled a pilot hole, and the stainless steel screws seemed to tap ok. I might add wood blocks underneath so the screws have more to grab. Also I probably need to put putty all around the screws. Water leaking past the screws and rusting out the screw hole is the main weakness at this point.

>I guess what I really meant was what is the purpose of the sink without a drain
Both sides have drains. The customized size has a clear sheet of lexan to bridge the huge rusted out hole, and there is a normal drain in the center of the lexan. I thought you had noticed that it was not yet connected to the drain pipe.

Now that I'm home from Lowe's with the pipes, in no time at all I will have two fully functional sinks!
>>
>>1198748

You're confusing me. It looks like you just put a piece of plastic completely covering the opening in the sink. Maybe I'm just not seeing it but it looks like the drain is covered by the piece of plastic
>>
Best thing to do is douse the rathole and torch it...Hopefully the door sticks and you burn to death
>>
>>1198750

I agree that it has created a sort of optical illusion, but the drain is actually in a hole in the lexan.
>>
>>1198748

You're mentally ill. Why would you buy pipes new from Lowe's when you have perfectly good toilet paper rolls and duct tape? Or do you reuse a single sheet and just clean all the shit off it between wipes?

fuckin awesome OP - this some next-level shit, like /diy/ing a bathtub out of a torn binbag. The only way you could improve that any, be if you'd timestamped it with a permanent marker (which I'd trust you to have done, tbqh).
>>
>>1198305
This, even if you're piss poor. You can afford a cheap bar of soap and a rag.
>>
>>1198924
If OP has a sink like that and a door with more mold than wood he probably can't afford a smartphone.
>>
>>1198800
You're not being clever or handy! You spent more fixing this rusted through sink then what you could have gotten a perfectly fine one from a reno home. Also...

Well, I could afford a smartphone, but at the moment I am putting that purchase off for a while, because I have two perfectly fine phones already.

The black one is 11 years old, and the red one is about 10.

They're both prepaid and I don't use them much, but Verizon requires me to put money in periodically or they will terminate the account. So, on the red one, the balance got so big that last month when I tried to add more, it said that the balance was too high, but it was going to terminate anyway.

So I go to online chat and ask her to remove some money so I could add some money and keep the phone active. She was really cool and said "Nah, I'll bump the termination date two years so you'll have time to burn some of the balance". (It's about $500 now).

So I guess I'll just have one phone call the other and just lay them on my desk for an hour or so once in a while so that I can add money next time.

Other than buying a $10 dollar battery every year or two, the two phones together cost about $9 per month, because the black one is on a grandfathered plan where I only have to put money in every few years (nobody at Verizon can explain the actual term), while the red one requires $100 every year.

Good on ya, don't through away that old door they're bloody handy clamped to 2 sawhorses as a workbench when your working outside. Now see if you can make an effort to clean up the kitchen, maybe keep an eye out for a used sink that's larger then the one you have now so you can recut the hole.
Also, don't listen to these guys flip phones are the shit.

Sometime in 2019 they are shutting down the 2G service, and your phones will be obsolete. Youll be forced into a different plan with a newer phone that has an LTE radio in it
>>
>>1199161
Used smartphones can be had for dirt cheap, you can also get plans ranging from $20-30 a month in the 1-2gb range.
Yeah, its more than his current $9 a month, but he is just like a lot of people. He barely uses the phone as a phone.

You dont truly understand having a smartphone until you are in the garage, or at the store and you can just whip the phone out and google something real quick.
For a lot of people, 90% google machine, 10% calling and texting

I realize that, but the alternative would be for me to have to pay $200 for those two years and then deal with the same situation you described.

Anytime a cellphone company volunteers to give you $200 it's pretty cool, in my opinion. I wasn't threatening to cancel or anything; she came up with the idea, and she wasn't even sure that it would work, so she did it and waited for me to verify that it went through.

With that $200 I can put a new carburetor on this truck.

Amazing how you get 20 replies for being a bitch, but 0 for asking a simple question.

>>1199364

Nah, I've worked on cars and trucks since my first one, so my theory is that it's better to buy some piece of crap at a low price and put one or two grand into it right away, and you should have a 10 year vehicle for 2 or 3 thousand dollars. Buying new is great if you have the money, as is paying for repairs. But if you like to maintain your own car, it's fun to do what I do. Both of my trucks have the same engine, more or less, even though one is a 65 and the "new" one is an 84, so that makes life simpler in terms of spare parts and experience.

Do they have a ReStore in your area? habitat for Humanity runs them and they sell all the stuff that gets donated that they don't use in building homes. Their prices are very, very cheap.

Hard water buildup. You want to hit it with a pumice cleaning stick. Take it easy at first until you learn how it works. It is very hard to scratch porcelain with one of these but I have seen idiots do it.
