Sound proofing

this topic is always coming up and no-one has any workable ideas which dont involve adding extra walls. you can try blankets but it wont help much.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed, Well even methods that don't work so well like some proper foam to put up to at least dampen it.

foam and egg crates are great for reducing echoes but they dont do anything to stop sound escaping.

since you're wanting to BIY it, what's your budget?

Best bet if you're serious is probably lots of used mattresses. Cheap, plentiful, and one of the only things with enough acoustic-blocking mass to be useful in DIY room sound proofing without getting crazy expensive/heavy/impractical

I'm also asking because I was thinking of getting a camper van/motor home in the future and would like to soundproof that too.

Why would the room being built already matter?
Just open the outlets and extend the wiring to the new inner outlets.
