Bumping for interest
Don't understand the thread topic but just to let you know you can use the GPIO pins for your controls.
That's often called an "arcade stick" or "fight stick". The term "joystick" should be reserved for the variable/analog things you'd fly a plane with. An arcade stick, having only on/off in each direction, wouldn't work in any flight simulator approaching realism.

Find stick you like for which drivers exist for whatever general purpose computer you're connecting it to? Check out /vg/ and the various fighting game reddits to see what's good?

>Joystick
Can you make the variable axis ones so that they work natively with operating systems other than Windows? Or would that more be about software/drivers for the computer itself? I don't suppose this is the right board to ask about programming one's own drivers, is it?
What a dumb thread
