I have been working at the home depot in the lumber department for 2 years now, and literally every saturday/sunday i will cut at least 10 4x8 sheets of 5millimeter luon down into 6 inch strips. What in god's name is the bane of my existence being used for?

and, you couldn't use the existing 'Im a fucking RETARD! So, I gotta job in Home Depot! AMA!!!' thread (which is a Lowes thread this week, but still full of HD cunts, vive la difference) to ask this banal, mundane and of interest to fucking no-one bollocks in, no?

Anyone WITH HALF A FUCKING GLIMPSE OF INTELLIGENCE might have, y'know, ASKED THEIR FUCKING CUSTOMERS WHAT THEY ARE USING IT FOR - but, then again, you proably even look such a retarded fucking gimp, they keep you chained up in the back and avoid eye contact, just in case you find out their address and try and sneak home with them. Go get run over collecting trolleys you useless fuck, and never darken the door of /diy/ again, FFS.

As hilarious as these pictures are, there are plenty of women that know how to... oh fuck it. I spent 4 years taking every shop class I could in highschool, the girls either left after a week, or sat around talking the entire time. I am now in my third year as an ME student, and participate in several technical clubs. In every single one of them, the women end up just doing paperwork for grants and things.

In one group, a woman came with us to help on the construction of something. I was cutting out a fucking stencil with an exacto knife, and she pulled me aside and told me I shouldnt cut towards myself. You stupid cunt, If you want to cut straight lines with an exacto you pull towards you. I have more control over the motion pulling towards me, not pushing and it IS safer.

DESU anyone who rags on safety to that level, deserve to get hurt just for the irony of it all.

Meh, women use power tools all the time, it's just, mixer and sewing machine and vacuum and washing machine instead of drill and scrollsaw and shopvac and sandblaster. (Basically the same tool motions, meant for different materials.)
Of course, only a small fraction of women still learn how to correctly use a mixer and a sewing machine, just like only a fraction of men go beyond halfassed incorrect use of a drill and hammer.
Also, most tools are designed for the size of men's hands, upper body strength, and weight. A women who weighs 50% less, has 30% smaller hands, and is 1/3 as strong because a) body shape/genetics and b) women don't work out their biceps, won't be able to effectively use the same size tools.
You can see the same thing when the 130lb new guy on the crew gets handed a jackhammer. He would do fine shoveling the asphalt but is just too light/inexperienced to control it well.

But yeah, my mom uses my jigsaw and scrollsaw and finishing sander all the time, but not the circular saw or router. Mostly because her interests are cutouts, signs, spray paint stencils, decorative bark planter box covers, etc.

Basically, it's the bell curve. If 40% of men and 10% women of women would be good at tools if they had the training and appropriate sized tools, and you only train men because you have a higher success rate, than you don't get to say no women CAN.
That's the circular logic that kept women and blacks out of academia: women can't because if they could they would have, and women don't because we don't let/encourage them, and we don't let/encourage them because it would be cruel because they can't.
And we know know that some of the best in the field are female or African American. (I premptively plead nolo contendre if you want to argue that the majority are mediocre or terrible, but you can't deny that they objectively CAN excel, even if at lower rates.

Back in the day Home depot was limited to 3 cuts PER BOARD. They'd gladly go for more if you were a reasonable person, but they had every right to refuse making 6" shiplap strips for an entire room.

Go through the training modules and see if there is anything about right to not run through blades, and overwork a panel saw. You should direct them over to the tool section where they sell tools, so they can cut their own goddamn repetitive shit on a shitty table saw. A little imagination and they could build a jig and use a circular.
>>
>>1187674

>You probably had to plane uphill both ways in the snow though, right?

Some of us actually were put to work.

My father used to make me and whichever unfortunate friend who visited me that weekend move yards of aggregate and sand a couple hundred feet to his building site where a truck couldn't reach to dump. To save on the labour of paying guys to do it.

Despite being the only one with a a PlayStation my friends stopped coming over real quick and I gained the nickname slave child. Which was really "funny" because I was the only white boy in my group of friends.

OP needs to quit his bitching because if I got to cut shiplap strips for an 8 hour shift I would cream myself at how easy it would be. Usually the people who want you to cut don't mind waiting and you can take your time measuring twice.

OP, stop being a brown-noser and recognize that working the saw allows escape from real work like packdown and having to explain that the lumber truck won't be there for another week and you don't have any more osb sheathing.
