Raspiss is only worthwhile if you'll be using pi-specific software or the i/o pins. Otherwise there's cheaper SBCs with the same power.

I, personally, wouldn't use any of them for emulation, because a bit more processing is needed for emulating 16-bit consoles to the degree of accuracy I want, so I do it on my desktop Xeon.

Why?
Why not use it for what it is? Games made to look good on CRTs won't look as good on LCDs. Are you just wanting wood furniture on an LCD? Seems pretty pointless to get a period accurate display only to not use it.

NTSC CRTs make noise that's unbearable to younger people.

Don't kill yourself on the caps, which may be drying out by now.

Yea everything is held in by plastic pins and came out really easy, keeping all the spare parts but they got rained on hard before I got it

There's others like orange pi and banana pi. Raspberry may be worth it to have stuff pre-configured to just work. You can ask /g/ about it.

You may need to pay to get rid of the tube inside. You effectively paid that much for some pretty shitty wood.

Just dry it out for a few weeks. There was plenty of room in those for dozens of pis so no need to gut anything.

depends on how old it is. I tore up one of these that was actually solid wood on the front panels and decent plywood for the top and sides and bottom. I tore out the guts and made a shelving unit/book case out of it. I had another one later that was MDF fake wood crap - that one went to the electronics recycle. and yet another one later that was pure plastic fake wood. that also went straight to the electronics recycle.

This one's a mix between wood and panels, I think the original owners refurbished it at some point. If I get lazy or this project is too much of a bitch I might steal your idea for a bookshelf.
