How can i remove the engraving on this claw hammer head at home?

Is it just laser engraved, or is it actually engraved with some depth? If it's laser engraved, you could probably just use electrolysis (super easy, Google it, use a wet sponge on it). If it's got depth, don't.

I mean, assuming there's a good reason not to just lightly sand it.
