Have a cafe in an old building and even though im constantly cleaning, can't seem to get rid of the flies -- any suggestions on nontoxic fly sprays/remedies?

UV fly killer lamps, fly strips?
they the classic solutions for a reason, they tend to at least half work - don't hang them where the customers can see the tho - and if you think that's self-evident advice, you've never been in a cafe/restaurant in Spain/Greece/etc.

A trick I use
>Use a wide container/tray/box with a wide opening
>Fill with 1 litre water, one tablespoon vinegar and a dash of soap
>Place somewhere out of the way where the insects can get to it
For some strange reason the vinegar will attract insects to the water. The soap destroys the natural tension of the water surface so insects cannot stand on the surface but falls in and drowns in the water.
Preferably use a container that lets you see the catch, especially if the rate declines. Add water fromt time to time, no need to add soap, rarely add a little vinegar.
I have used this to remove all insects that came in when I put a potted plant in the window sill where insects were hiding in the soil. That might be the source of your problems too, in that case make sure the soil is not too dry.

This actually works, an open air restaurant at a smelly marina had them hung up on the perimeter every 8' or so. one got taken down in the middle of the meal and flies started bothering us. It was put back and they went away.
Magic, I cannot figure out why it works.
Ag suppliers sell jars that are fly traps, they help but the perimeter of ziplocks with a penny works better.

I use this for gnats.
I tried an experiment. Two shotglasses with vinegar, side by side.
The right one had a drop of soap, the left one didn't.

Interesting. Does it catch the flies, or repel them?

Nah, just throw watter ina bag with a few pennies. I heard they are affraid of their magnified reflection but i believe the only answer is fuckin black magic..
We always tape them up or hang on nails.
