>be me
>finds 5-7 year old 6 volt lead acid battery for flashlight laying around(lost charging cable when i got it and forgot about it)
>checks for terminal voltage,its 0.4 volts.
>looks online and finds out its hopeless.
>tries to charge it anyway.
>gets home telephone charger thats written on 6 volt output and 0.5 amp max current
>cuts the head and checks the voltage on the wires it turns out to be 10 volts and 1.5 amps (WTF)
>looks online for charging methods, sees 3 stage complicated bullshit.
>hooks it up any way.
>25 minutes later checks battery voltage turns out to be 4 volts.
>hook it another 15 minutes.
>voltage is 3.88 volts.
>dunno what does this shit means so I give it up.
>feels ichy to know if there is hope
>post the story on 4chan
>i don't know how to interpret specifications

Enlighten me , I am here to fuckin learn

Battery will probably have more salt than the democrats after the election. Probably unrecoverable.
If there's a method to bring it back to life I'd like to know, as I have a pair of massive 6 volt lead acid batteries and one of them is done for.

sorry, the damage is already permanent

This. Its sort of a long shot. And you will have to google how to tare open sealed lead batteries. But boil a few teaspoons of epsin salt into distilled water and dumo it in the battery and shake the oiss out of it. It may desulfate it enough to hold a charge.
Typically not worth the time and hassle as they wont last long still.
But, this is diy and its a near free project.
Also you never wanna charge a lead battery over what like 1/5 of the max ah? Anyone know?

Try and desulfate via over volt. Maybe 1 volt over. Do it outside. If case is bulging don't do it.

Batteries can hold some charge even if damaged, short it with something and you'll see it drop right back to 0 again.

>overvolting a sealed lead acid
Seems like a really bad idea
>>1167283
Batteries generally are in like 2 volt? Cells. So a car battery has 6 cells for example. If a few are bad youll never get the full 12 volts.

I have a busted tooth, scar on my chin, and my eyesight is permanently worse after digging plastic out of my eyes from the 2nd battery to blow up in my face.
Treat batteries like fucking explosives because they are.
