Also Paul Sellers, Tubalcain, This old Tony (just for the throwback MASH voice and horrible Dad humor), and I think Myfordboy is possibly the best to watch for sand casting technique.

So? DIY is Do It Yourself, has nothing to do with calling a car stock. They are a professional motorsports company. Not DIY.
>>
>>1158204
>So? DIY is Do It Yourself, has nothing to do with calling a car stock. They are a professional motorsports company. Not DIY.
Uh... they're doing it themselves and showing every last bit of it. It's their personal project.
>>
>>1158205
You simple fuck, they are professionals. It's a business.
>>
CHECK OUT THIS GREAT DIY BUILD FORD MOTOR COMPANY IS DOING FOR ME! THEY'RE DOING IT THEMSELVES!
>>
>>1158207
Obviously. Professionals doing a personal project. Like EVERYONE ELSE MENTIONED IN THE THREAD.

>>
>>1158209
None one is building it for them. THEY ARE BUILDING IT. Moron.
>>
>>1158211
THEY ARE PROFESSIONAL MECHANICS. THERE IS NOTHING DIY ABOUT PROFESSIONAL MECHANICS BUILDING A CAR YOU RETARDED FAGGOT.
>>
>>1157990
Watching the Sun Keeper build right now, This guys pretty cool. Thanks!
>>
>>1158213
>THEY ARE PROFESSIONAL MECHANICS. THERE IS NOTHING DIY ABOUT PROFESSIONAL MECHANICS BUILDING A CAR YOU RETARDED FAGGOT.
Then every link in this thread isn't DIY either. BECAUSE EVERY OTHER EXAMPLE IS ALSO A PROFESSIONAL SOMETHING OR OTHER.

What, you want to learn potato farming from someone who's never touched a potato? Be my guest.
I'm going to watch pros, who know what they're doing, bust out crazy cool shit in their spare time. Because they're gonna know how not to suck at everything they do, and I'm gonna learn something.

You, you're going to learn how to get stoned thinking about potatoes.
>>
>>1158218
>Project Binky
That's not DIY. So yeah, some of these turds in this thread don't belong here. Neither do you, because you're retarded and belong in a home.

>>1158222

I agree, they actually know what they're doing, unlike you morons.
>>
>>1158222

Not a single example mentioned in the thread so far counts, because every one of them is a professional making money off of it.

Nobody is building a Mini with Celica guts along with the Project Binky videos. There's absolutely NOTHING DIY about it. Instructional videos that show people how to make things themselves are DIY. It doesn't matter if it's an engineer showing you how to make a wooden dildo or an amateur, if the intent is for you to build your own. You 4chan kids need to stick to Nickelodeon
>>
>>1158227
>Nobody is building a Mini with Celica guts along with the Project Binky videos.
You could though. The reason you're not is because... well, they're doing it so it's already been done. Cool one off.
>There's absolutely NOTHING DIY about it.
Like... wha? I have better equipment than they do (save the TIG welder, I need a good TIG). They ghetto-fabricate with random crap lying aorund better than anyone I've seen. I HAVE LEARNED STUFF FROM THEIR VIDS.
I could do anything they show, except for the fact that they're better at it... not because they have access to some magic professional equipment I can't get myself. The fanciest piece of equipment they've used is a damn TIG.
>Instructional videos that show people how to make things themselves are DIY.
Yup, like I said, I'm learning stuff from Binky. Maybe you just have no imagination. I mean, you want to grow potatoes, why are you watching car vids?
>It doesn't matter if it's an engineer showing you how to make a wooden dildo or an amateur, if the intent is for you to build your own.
Ah, you *do* have an imagination! Where are you planning to stick it?
But I have no use for a wooden dildo, so obviously no one else does either, so I guess that isn't DIY right? Because only my personal opinion matters.
>>
>>1157966

Very Thanks
>>
>>1158227

I didn't see anyone mention the SV Seeker guy.

https://www.youtube.com/user/submarineboat/videos

He's building a steel chinese junk style sailboat in his front yard to sail and hire out as a work boat in his retirement. Before that he was building a lake submarine that he wound up selling off before it was dive worthy so he could start construction on the sail boat. If you go back about 6 years in the videos, you'll find the modeling set ups from when he was figuring out how the origami hull was supposed to work, and here videos are still interspersed with ones about the submarine.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVJZW36l4D4

The past few years though, he started getting more visitors who would stay and help him work on different parts of the boat or other projects, but it's still pretty diy I think.

>>1158490
came to mention Hand Tool Rescue. No talk, no bullshit, just comfy ass pov shots of the work being done.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmI9Gb7HhWU&t=910s

AvE is pretentious. He flaunts his education too much and his elitism for tools gets old. tool quality is not the most critical if you are a a real craftsman; shitty tools in the hands of a skilled person can still perform, just like having the best guitar wont make you instantly a good guitarist, tools are the same. the "skookum pixies chooching maple syrup all over the ice" talk gets old, along with his trove of wannabe engineer fans lapping that shit up
>>
>>1162175
>AvE is pretentious. He flaunts his education too much and his elitism for tools gets old.

How is he flaunting his education?
>>
>>1162182
theres nothing wrong with liking his vids and theres nothing wrong with being smart and educated but 95% of his vids are dedicated to him just talking about and showing off his random knowledge of materials/electricity/engineering ect. by taking stuff apart, and a lot of times destroying it too. Its not like shows off a whole lot of what he makes or builds, its just him talking about tools aka flaunting his knowledge
>>
That brown unibrow guy that's always burning and shocking himself
>>
>>1162194

his tool destroying videos are good but i wish he would do more of him fucking around with his mill or lathe building poorly thought out prototypes

>>
>>1169133
Sounds like a moneymaker.
Wooden dildos or plugs.
Paddles, of course.
wooden "wiffleball" gag? would require some rubber blocks in the surface for padding perhaps but hollowed and showing wood grain? hmm.
wooden collars for that kink. two-pieces with a decorative joint and a clever fastener? flat "chain" of segments would also be an option.

Wooden handcuffs? Not like police cuffs but perhaps a nicely made "stocks" style piece?

The sky is the limit for kink craftsmanship.
>>

I do like his video quality, he specialises in segmented woodturning, and has a massive CNC machine which he has once ever used 1/4 of the area on. Come to think of it I haven't seen one of his videos in at least a month, the unsubscribe ""glitch"" better not have got me.

Great visually but he annoys me too much.

I watched one of his videos, subscribed, watched the next week's worth of uploads, and then I had to unsubscribe.

Oh well.

Was going to post this. No talking, channel promotion, bullshit. Just him working quietly by himself using all hand tools. It's super relaxing to watch, especially with the ambient forest sounds in the background. Plus it's motivating. It's amazing what one knowledgeable person with some time on their hands can accomplish when just working slowly but steadily. F this modern industrial "life."

There is a difference between competence and pretention, Anon. And AvE is the former. Other than the subject areas where he very clearly does know his shit, he comes across as a quite regular guy to me. Actually he seems quite funny and down to earth. Talking about making bets for beers, etc... Dicking around in the garage, getting away from the wife, etc... Very normal and down to earth to me.

You OTOH seem like a very young or perhaps just life inexperienced, angry, salty person. Pic related?

Inb4 do you know where you are

Horrible unfunny channel. His one trick pony act was funny the first time you watch one of his videos because it takes you off guard. The fact he does the same damn thing in every single video is stupid.
>>
>>1171844
The recent ones surprised me because he did such a good job of really seeming incompetent... Or he is.

I maintain that AvE is a pretentious fuck. What the hell does he even make? I couldnt tell you. Seems to me the only thing he makes is drawn out YT videos. His content may seem "do it yourself" but really its just him talking behind the camera and very little productivity, or doing. All these "in depth" reviews of tools but never actually put to use. And newsflash: shitty tools can still get a job done. Better to use a HF grinder to actually complete a project than to have a dewalt you never put to use. So even if he is charming or cool or intelligent, and even if I am NaCl, he is not a craftsman or skilled builder. hes a pretentious engineer making youtube vlogs.

For content where stuff gets done and not just talked about:
Tips from a Shipwright
Bad Obsession Motorsports (project binky)
Collin Furze
MatthiasWandel
Mighty Car Mods
Larry Hall (gardening channel, but the dude has a KILLER garden in Minnesota)
How to Make Everything
David Richards (he has an entire machine shop that is steam powered)

With so many people out there actually making and doing things, why would I waste my time just listening to AvE make syrup memes and destroy tools

>judging from a viewpoint of diy

OK fair enough, as that is the board we are on. I guess I wasn't looking at it from that perspective. I just found him very knowledgeable and entertaining, in a general sense. And yes, I do admire his knowledge and anecdotes, from which (after you watch enough episodes) you can clearly gather that he has some years of experience in a few different disciplines. Plus he's not a faggot.

Can we get some diy related websites in here as well?
I know about Hackaday, Makezine and Instructables, but Im about to get bored by those.
