Looking to replace a deck worth of broken slate tile. Cant fix individual pieces. It seems porcelain tile holds up well or is there a better type of tile for outside use. Will get heavy use its in a rental property. Can i pick any porcelain tile from the store?
Porcelain tile isn't bad for rentals. I use it as much as I can. You just have to make sure the subfloor is solid. If it flexes at all your tile will break.

Will it hold up to outside use, rain, sun, freezing temperatures?
The slate lasted like 10 yrs. it wasnt thick slate though

Yeah, you'll just need to reseal the grout as needed. I aim for every three years, but I've gone 5 years without a problem.
What kind of subfloor do you have?

Plywood

Actually not sure will check tomorrow thanks anon
Tile is really shit tier compared to other options for flooring we have today. All it takes is one guy dropping a mug wrong and bam, the tile is done for. Once you have a cracked tile in the middle of a bunch it is a total fucking cunt to fix properly. If you don't have any spare tiles from the exact same manufacturing run then gg.

You run into the same "matching" problem with any other material. Tile holds up better than most other materials. Luxury vinyl tile is good too, but it costs a bit more and isn't as durable for outdoor use.

>Put down wooden decking
>Easy as fuck to replace
>Easy as fuck to match
>Easy as fuck to fix
>Easy as fuck to take off
Why would you ever do anything other than a concrete patio or a timber deck? Unless you have some "architectural" house that you think looks good but normal people think looks fucking gay.

He doesnt gut a shitty rental and store shit in it because rennants suck dick...

I was under the impression it's a concrete patio, which is why there's slate tile there already.
