If you just want to learn basic maintenance then youtube has more than enough information. You'd be surprised how much you learn just by tinkering with you engine.

This guys got it. You dont need a class for basic maintenance. Just research, watch some youtube videos, and when its time for some maintenance on your car, if you think you can handle it, do it yourself. A service manual isnt necessary for most simple stuff, but is a good investment if you want to do more or if you dont have a good owners manual.

If you want to go more in depth, you could buy some cheap shitbox off craigslist or whatever and wrench on that. Diesels arent too awful different when it comes to most real basic maintenance stuff, but once you get a little more into it, they are pretty damn different.

google/youtube and a good service manual will teach you plenty more useful info. best way to learn general maintenance is to do your own.

Mechanics are expected to be able to work on both Gasoline and Diesel engines everywhere except America.
Americans make Diesel seem like its some unexplored territory.

In reality, there is not much difference.
If you can work on one, you should be able to work in the other.

There isnt a whole lot of deisle cars here for some reason. Amd school teaches for heavy equipment also.

I looked into throwing a 4bt in some shit but hotroddinf deisle gets expensive amd i have no use for 35mpg because i neved go anywhere
