I've been messing around with copper plating, and have been getting decent results. Do you guys have any tips for someone trying to plate stuff?
This was done with 5 volts, 2 amp DC and a rootkill/saltwater solution.

the only thing that really tripped me up when I started out is that voltage and current both matter in plating quality.

I'd be interesting in doing this too. Trying to anodise knife seems fun, if no a great waste of time and money.

I never could find exact numbers when I was researching it. I found out that you absolutely need a steady supply, so no batteries.

So now when you go to the fast food joint to eat instead of the 16 year old cashier thinking that's either 50 cents (two quarters) or $2 (two dollar coins), they think it's 2 cents, and those are some fuck huge pennies. Come on OP, at least plate something besides money? Actually looks okay, for the record.

I probably will. Coins are just the test bed for the trial and error phase.
Copper electroplating? Make a solution of copper sulfate (21.5oz/1gal), sulfuric acid (15.5oz/1gal), HCl (100ppm), and Iron (1000ppm). 2-3 amps over 5-10 min is good if plating on metal depending on size and shape. For better results, you could make a predip thats a bit lower in copper sulfate and higher in sulfuric with 3 amps for less time. Air agitation/mixing helps prevent burn and discolorations. Could add a few chemical stabilizers to improve color and corrosion/patina resistance.
electroless copper and nickel plating works well for small parts.
Dont have any recipes in front of me but I'm sure you could google it.
