You build a tall brick wall (or barb wire fence if you don't mind looking tacky) around the house, with spike pits to fall into on the other side of the wall and set up gun posts. Seriously. Should cost no more than $5000 but it's well worth it.
Also get a dog, or if you want to mindfuck someone, get a big dog bowl, build a doghouse, and play audio recordings of a dog barking without actually having a dog, and that should be enough to keep people away without actually having to care for a big dog.
