Hey /Diy/, do you know if there is a kind of staple-like screw or nail that could go into layered wood? I'm trying to make the keychain to a keyblade, and I'm at a loss here. This is the closest I have, and was wondering if there was something similar out there.

any nail and screw should go into wood, if it is not, drill a smaller hole first, if still cannot, it is not wood

U nail or eye screw

The problem I'm having is that I need a somewhat square variant of pic related. That, and the layered wood is pretty thin, and was wondering if it would splinter if drilled into.

How would you put nuts on it?
If you drill it, put it in a vise or use a clamp to keep chips from being forced between the layers.

just be insanely gentile and don't drill too fast and you should be okay as far as drilling holes goes. after that use a 2 part epoxy or similar glue to keep the u-bolt in place. you could even use a grinder to cut off the top threaded part of the bolt so you don't have to drill deep
