Whoever came up with slip joints for plumbing should be shot, then thrown off a cliff, then shot a few more times.

Had to replace a corroded metal sink trap, and I've had to take apart and put the whole thing together several times now.

Changing the pipe must have dislodged some sludge, causing a block. The stupid joints were leaking even with just an inch or two or water in the sink. That's flat out pathetic.

The next time it leaks, the whole thing is getting ripped out and replaced with regular sch 40. If it has to be completely glued together, than so be it.

The drain coming out of the wall has one of these, not sure the best way to go back to regular pvc since there isn't enough space to cut it off and glue on another coupling.

This is the typical example of a retard blaming his lack of skill on whatever he's working with. I wouldn't be surprised if you tightened them down with some channel locks and broke the tapered o ring.
>>
>>1142480
of course not, plastic threads are usually always hand tighten

it doesn't take any skill to put the stupid things together, which is the reason it's so prone to leaking

>be me
>decide to clone my dick for my gf
>standing by the sink
>watching porn
>fapping
>stirring the mold compound
>have to time it just right so it's not too mushy but not too runny
>mistime.jpeg
>half the molding compound goes down the drain
>other half is in the bottom of the sink
>try to wash it through but the water starts to rise
>imfucked.wav
>open cabinet
>has slip joints
>thankgod.gif
>unscrew them with my hands
>push the dried molding compound through
>screw it back on
>all this while naked with a raging hard on and porn blasting in the background

Tl;dr. You're fucking retarded if you can't work with these.
>>
>>1142526
so you want me to flush a dick kit down the drain to combat the inadequacies of a poorly designed pipe joint

replacing it with proper pipe would be cheaper
>>
Well, you need to align them halfway strait, put the washer in the right way, and clean the connection and washer before reassembly.

>>1142480
>blaming his lack of skill on whatever he's working with.
Agreed.
>>
>>1142551
and even after all that, they can still leak if just slightly pushed
>>
>>1142557
Are you using schedule 20 pipe or something?

I redid the plumbing for my entire house a little over a decade ago. Only problem I've had with the schedule 40 traps is when she poured grease down the sink & I had to disassemble it.

You aint a shittin op.

Fucking threw a pickup load of those cunts away finally.

Worked at a pvc factory. Google exact temps, and itll stink, but you can throw a chunk of pvc ina oven and the bend it wherever the fuck u want. Cold water to set it helps but if you dont get it bent the way u want it you should be able to fill it with sand and hold it in place till it cools. Then move and get sand out obviously.

Protip.

Cut pvc pieces and do like above but jam a cold piece into it and make your own pipe fittings.

Sure they are only a few bucks new, but when you have a shithole like mine and 30 miles from a descent supply shop....

the pipe they sell for this purpose is even thinner than that, see pic

supposed to be 40 and 20 on the left, mine on the right

>>1142583
I was ready to bend some with a heat gun, if I had to, but it worked out okay, in theory, with the pieces I had

thinking about it now, I don't know how well it would have done, being that thin

if I do have to re-do the drain (and would use thicker pipe), I'd definitely try it
>>
>>1142589
I'm putting giat ass drain pipes and air hose fittings with check valves on my next fucking house.

Drains plugged.

Poof.

Not no more
>>
>>1142710
I did actually try using an air compressor to blow out a clog once, but it was unsuccessful since the vent prevented the pressure from building

you never realize how important having accessible cleanouts is until you have to drain an entire line's worth of nasty dish water one small bucket at a time to get at a clog
>>
>>1142474
use pipe sealant (silicone grease) on pvc threads. I found out the hard way, same as you.
>>
>>1142827
how does something like that do with rubber?

there is a part of the sink drain that has connecting threads, and is supposed to seal with an o-ring, but is also leaky
>>

Or perhaps he's wondering why someone would shoot a man before throwing him off a cliff.
