But guise since the screws were sticking out and so thr handle wasnt loose i used a bit of creativity and wrapped the two screws in tape. Now it looks secure and feels secure. Yay :)

I think as long as my rmm8 thinks my room is """locked""" even if its very weak lock, he will back off. Unless if he breaks the lock which then would be obvious. As long as rmm8 is under illusion then its all good i think.

this is not true for the vast majority of door knob designs. OP needs to use an ordinary screwdriver with a slim shaft, and use the correct screw which requires very little torque when starting and the screwdriver has to be angled a lot.

Once the screw is all the way in the angle is such that he can tighten it properly without damaging the screw head.

I paint houses and have removed literally hundreds of door knobs. Sometimes it is a pain in the ass to get the screws started, but be patient.

or, as others have suggested, use your fingers to start the screws. if they bind up then you have damaged threads or misalignment, and you need to fix that or you will probably damage things further.

I'm pretty sure that when you rotate the knob, at some point the hole in the plate aligns with a grub screw fastening the knob.
The reason why I am certain of that is simple: no one would manufacture a product that forces you to misalign the screwdriver, and the pics show evidently that the knob is on axis of the bolt.

As for accessing such places in general: if it's pozdriv, take the bit and use a 1/4in wrench to rotate the bit.
