Hello /diy
any ideas for attaching an image to a metal surface?
Im wondering if i can print out a picture, glue it to the effect pedal and then maybe clear coat it?
will that seal the picture in there permanently?
maybe use photographic paper...
I'm going to try it out anyway but I wondered if any one has a better method.
Should I use a spray can or maybe epoxy resin?
any advice would be appreciated bros

thanks Andrew.
glue the picture first though right?
will I need to create a dam around the sides and plug the holes to keep the resin in? seems like it will spill over the edges and not set on the top.
thanks for your reply mate
What about those printed decals you float in water?
>>1137687
you reckon you might be able to make your own?
also wondering if I should prime the metal with paint before going down the glue/picture/resin path

A while ago I cut some horror movie VHS jacket and glued it on my diy pedal box. Result was great. Will post picture later

oh neat. yeah, please do.
thats exactly what I'm going for but I want to make it permanent and have never used resin before.
need to add the controls function text and shit aswell

Yeah, look up decal paper or waterslide paper.

Nigga, just etch the case, use the toner method and diluted HCl for aluminium.

Seems perfect for doom pedals

oh snap. that looks good too.
is that your work?

Here is the one

looks cool bro. what sort of glue did you use?
>>1138752
I think it was a classic super glue. But I remember the paper was made of some sort of plastic.
What kind of pedal did you make?
>>1139118
super glue and photographic paper sounds strong enough. looks good to me.
Im super new to electronics, currently learning the bread board. Im ok with circuit bending but not good enough to make my own circuits yet.
I just thought Id go ahead with making some sweet looking boxes (the easy bit)
going to make one of these first, very little electronics required

This seems so cool. If i could used some like dat to my set it would be great.
If you are very new you can test one of those youtube 10min circuit:

yeah boi, I'm already subscribe to that channel. its helped me loads.
pic related is the inside of that thingy.
really simple stuff
You can iron on a laser printed page to metal. Just need to reverse image. Good option for line art.

What the thing with white and yellow cable?
>>1139903
yellow and white is just a simple kill switch.
the big round piezzo in the middle is whats important.
the knob on the left is a frequency selector for what range the peizo can pick up.

Could you provide link to listen to it???

Ma bad. But i see the origin of the noise
>>1140257
check his chanel out.
theres a video of it with out effects.
he has included a loop circuit into his one though unlike the picture.

Been a while right?
I found this:
http://diyguitareffects.blogspot.ca/2013/04/realisation-dune-pedale-de-distortion.html
I have done it. It is really easy schematic to make a basic fuzz.
I think you can build a preamp for your springbox just before the jack and put a passive filter to get better result ans less unwanted noise

Nope, but I did some similar things and I use the same method for PCB etching. It works pretty well as long as the toner layer is thick enough. You can cover the defects with permanent marker and the precision is pretty good.
Glueing something on a pedal that is meant to be stomped over many times doesn't seems a good idea to me.

ah cool man, Im on the bread board phase of my learning so far. very new to it but ultimately yeah, would love to design an actual circuit an etch me own board.
also, im a keyboard/synth enthusiast so I won't be stomping anything but yeah.. glue is a no no
Not OP here. Anyone knows how to 'rust' a pedal box and save the result under some polish???
>>1142470
Rust spray paint.
>>1142470
no idea. you would have to seal inside as well i imagine.
probably epoxy resin to coat it.
I dont know how to rust things quickly but Im sure it can be done.
could be cool with some silent hill decals in the mix too, what with the rust an all.
