Please help?

I just installed a legacy la590 ( https://www.amazon.ca/Legacy-Performance-Channel-Bridgable-Amplifier/dp/B00005Y6OL ) to a single alpine type R12 ( https://www.crutchfield.com/S-Lphsd7pkq3N/p_500WR1522D/Alpine-SWR-1522D.html ) Exactly those models...

Im using 8 guage wire.. the amp turns on with the radio telling me my remote/power/ground is ok, but as soon as i connect my speaker wires it goes into protect mode and wont give me anything. This is not true for the RCA cables

Basically i can connect everything except the speaker wires, as soon as i connect the speaker wires, the amp goes into protect. Im not very experienced but i think i matched up the sub-amp ok.. or is this an impendance/ohm problem?

Maybe im not wiring them correctly? i bridged the two outside ports (+,-) of the woofer, and connected the two middle ones together with a banana connector thingy. basically a wire. following the drawing on the amp i matched the two outside ports with that of the sub, bridging them... did i do something wrong?

I havent used this set-up before, so the speaker could actually be damaged but as far as i can tell its in good shape..

Any help is greatly appreciated :D

I have it wired up like in the picture, except my speaker says 2ohm 2ohm near the ports not 4ohm 4ohm. Using speaker wire to connect the sub to the amp.
>>
Your trying to vridge your speaker to one ohm. You should just run each channel to each speaker coil. At 2 ohms each your amp is rated to support it. No need to bridge it. The amp cant handle it.
>>
so basically run the two left ports on the sub to the two left channels on the amp, and the 2 right to the 2 right channels, correct? this should take my amp out of protect mode?
>>
Op here. I just tried running each channel to each speaker coil.. The amp is STILL goes straight into protect mode... ..

the green light goes on for a sec then the red one takes over and the green fades away..

Im really not sure what to do , any suggestions?

like i said the amp powers green whenever the speaker wires are not connected. I can connect one of the wires, stays green, as soon as i connect another wire to the amp channels it goes red.
>>
Even if the speaker wires are only connected to the amp and not the sub, protect mode. Havent gotten a sound from it yet
>>
UPDATE

after calling an audio shop he suggested i wire the sub two inside ports to the two inside ports on the amp and bridge the outside ports on the sub, basically what i had set up initally.

I GOT THE GREEN LIGHT! but nothing is coming out of my sub at all.. and when i push the volume even a little bit it hops right back into protection mode.. FUCK

So i tried with a different speaker i had, a little 8 inch. I hook it up and same thing, the sub light now goes green, but nothing plays from the speaker and as soon as i push the volume even a little bit it goes right into protect mode....... Its not the RCA cables.......

ANY CLUE??? nobody has any idea..

Atleast, if something is broken, which is it the sub or the amp?

Have you double checked your earth?

Well op. I learned this lesson 15 years ago when i bought that same model amp ina 1600 watt model and odly enough some alpine subs.

Legacy is shit.

They just give out and it sounds like you are dicked.

Had the exact same shit happen to me.

Maybe they just allergic to Alpine?

In any case i bought a 500 watt kicker and 2 12" comp vr ina bandpass box and was three times the setup that fucking jerry rig legacy shit i had was.

Good luck to u.

Most of the time the capaciters blow or swell up or leak if u really want to fix it.

If i was you id toss it and chaulk it up as a learning experience.

I dont regret frying my shit.

Now i know the soare batteries and alternators will make my kx2500.1s hit.

turn the gain all the way down, then set the volume to 100% on the head unit. then slowly turn up the gain.
