How hard would it be to build a motorcycle from used/cheaper parts?
I don't have much experience, but I'd like to build something lightweight/durable
I've built a computer, one important aspect was checking for compatibility and and difference measurable performances, taking all that into consideration along with price. How similar would this be?
I wanna do a lightweight bike because I don't have a cherry picker or other similar tools, just some basic ones
Also, I'd like to do a very simple, safe bike that won't be too much trouble or cost too much

If you can't even google this question. Its way beyond your current skill set.

I've built computers too, but there's a world of difference with building a bike. "Building" computers is just assembling them, for a bike I assume you'll fabricate the frame and other key parts.

badly adjusted/designed PC aint gonna killyer (or anyone else) when you take a corner, etc. Buy an old moped, take it apart, fix it up, sell it, buy another, learn, progress. But building roadworthy transport vehicles from scratch, even via cannibalism/Mad Max style, and using these on public streets, it tends to get all complcated, both technically and legally, even for experts.

the legal part is the most complicated thing actually. The building part, more than complicated, is a long, time consuming process.

Could I make any profit doing the moped thing? That sounds fun but I don't wanna lose money

The point of buying an old moped is not spending much money. And there's people who fix and flip vehicles as a side hustle, btw.
just get an engine, hook it up to a chassis, add some bike wheels and you're set man
if the wright brothers can fly, you can make a bike go vroom vroom

Is this a troll thread?
just get a 50cc kit to slap on a bicycle for about 150$.

I've got the majority of a project bike I'll sell ya. It's a late 70s Honda CB750. You'll just need carbs, forks, and wheels. I've got everything else. Hundred bucks plus shipping and it's yours.

Get a jap from the 80s. Tempter 650, GS650, Virago, whatever you like. Cheap, reliable engines, can be torn down and rebuilt with basic hand tools. I have 4, spent about 2000$ total..? 500$ if the missus asks.

My friend has been building this for over 4 years, and he works as a designer for Polaris.
Granted, he has little spare time, but you have zero chance.

What exactly did be build? Because that looks like cobbled together bike parts with some ebay tier parts slapped on there. You didn't build shit if you just bolted things together.

ill take it - ship to australia please

I'm not sure if that's the correct picture of his current build, but he hand build the frame, everything else came off other bikes or is aftermarket. he isnt a fabricator, but can weld well.

Yes. Search craigslist for cheap mopeds and motorcycles, specifically ones that say they need work. There might be used car lots or junk yards you can ask around for old bikes for damn near scrap value. As long as you keep tabs on parts you can money money.

Totally. Over the years I've had my share of bikes both on and off road and dropped a few. Sometimes they never felt the same again after repairs and just got rid of them. They are already dangerous coming right off the factory floor but some people like to live super dangerously.
>all the pussies in this thread
drunken frenchmen have been slapping cafe bikes together since forever.
people build bikes all the time. just do something super simple for your first one.
