My bedroom is almost 40 years old and the roof suddenly fell. I was able to get out of the room just in time before anything fell on my head and killed me.

How do I fix it? Does it look safe? Wat do?
>>
>>1126651
If you don't already know how to fix it you will need to call a professional to look at it. You also need to determine why it fell. Are those blocks/bricks I'm seeing? Definitely a professional job and a call to your insurance company. If you live in a rented apartment, call your landlord and tell him the ceiling fell in. Stay out of that room.
>>
>>1126651
what country even
>>
Oh the joys of plaster. You need to get a scraper and crowbar to pry off the rest of it. then throw up some 1/4" or 3/8" drywall. Finish it as you see fit.
>>
>>1126651
you put a ceiling light on the wall just to fuck with us right?
>>
>>1126701
Thats the roof you dense cunt.
>>
what the heck kinda roof is that...
>>
>>1126725
Plaster.
>>
>>1126727
the stuff above it it
>>
cut square add sheetrock as close to flush as possible float edges with taping mud texture ceiling to match paint done(2-3 coats of mud til paper tape seam is gone sand smooth in between coats)
>>
>>1126729
Scrap dimensional lumber. I can see true 2x4 on the flat scabbed together and possibly old barn planking.
>>
>>1126715

why the fuck would the roof be bricked

bait thread 2/10
>>
>>1126743
Its tiled so there is something for the degenerate plaster to hang on to.

This is the best thread I have seen in ages. Keep us posted OP.
>>
>40 year old nigger-rigged house
It's rather impressive that it didn't fall earlier
>>
>>1126651
Looks like the roof will follow the ceiling soon.
Your best bet is to knock out the rest of the roof/ceiling combination clusterfuck, use some pallets, plywood and a tarp to replace the roof.
Then, once it keeps out most the rain, put a portable garage from harbor freight in there. Use Great stuff to seal the edges.
>>
Did the rest of the roof collapse? Are you OK OP?
>>
>>1126835
>Great Stuff
LMAO
Just used that to fix a hole in my ceiling.
>>
>>1126743

>>
OP admit it..this is the dungeon you keep children in..the last one dug at the plaster trying to escape you choad
>>
>>1126651
Someone is trying to tunnel into your roof. Call the police or whatever the eqevelent of that is Kazakhstan or wherever the fuck you live
>>
>>1126651
I dont know shit and ive never seen brick ceilings before

but judging by where the light is, im going to assume the light installation and where its been drilled may have something to do with why it failed.seeing as how the light sits right on the edge of where it cracked.
>>
scrap the rest and paint it black
>>
Please update us OP! What happened?
>>
>>1128778
He ded.
>>
In 15 years of commercial construction that's only the second ceiling ive ever seen like that. Those bricks are terracotta blocks. Light weigh clay and they are infilled between concrete beams. The plaster lost its adhesion to the terracotta. You'll need to remove it completely, install furring strips and install drywall to the furring strips.
>>
It looks bohemian bro

ITT eurofags swear by a construction method that nearly killed OP.
>>
>>1126651
I've had this happen before, except it landed on my head. It was startling, but plaster crumbles easily so my head wasn't damaged.

This reminds me of a place I lived in college...
>110° summer
>AC running nonstop
>AC unit above my bedroom
>condensation drain clogs, overflows
>completely soaked insulation
>gf feels drop of water on her head
>ohshit.webm
>move bed/gf out of the room seconds before pieces of wet drywall and insulation begin to fall
>hole keeps growing, ceiling keeps falling
>8' diameter hole in ceiling
>mfw rental and landlord fixed for me
>>
>>1127546
Is OP's pic a common type of construction where ever it is you live? I've never seen anything like it.
>>
>>1129320
Apparently it is popular in South America. Maybe in UK as well.

The thing I don't understand is that if it is a "beam and block" floor like another anon said it was, why the hell are the beams segmented every 200mm or so? The only way I could see it working is if the beams are hollow blocks with rebar inside which are then corefilled on site, left to cure then used as beams....
It just seems like an awfully inefficient and tedious way to do a floor when there are plenty of other options.
>>
>>1126651
Remove all the plasters and install tarp
>>
>>1129321
>Maybe in UK as well
nope (source: bong here)
>>
>>1129345
Considering the ceiling is niggerrigged...

Holy shit op, your roof is literally just bricks held by sheer compression from the walls, it is dangerous as holy mother and will collapse any fucking moment, gtfo if you value your life, seriously

op?

op you ded yet?
>>
>>1126651
>no tabs to hold the plaster
>>
>>1126651
Chill out OP,

Its just plasterwork degrading and coming off, probably not fixed or forgot adhesive compound before it was applied.

Judging by the reactions nobody has seen floor/ceilings like this before.
No need to worry..

Here in the Netherlands these floors where a thing in like '40 to late' 50s
Before concrete was massively available.

Call a plastermonkey to fix it, might want to remove all other loose pieces..
>>
Please OP, give us an update.
>>
OP, are you ok? What happened?
>>

Hes hanging out with the tunnel guy

I have never seen this construction before, I imagine it's some south American Favela Thing.
