hello /diy/

got a couple questions regarding the electronics for a "lightbox"

its basically used for revealing a positive in the screenprinting process, but the guy I had building it just took off and left me with this.

had previously made some lame double 500-watt halogen lamp work as my lamp box but i'm noticing the image is being shifted, so I decided to upgrade.

i'll post some pics of what the guy left and in turn I can help out anyone with any silkscreen Q's to the best of my abilities

thanks in advance

a question about this

the guy said the original sockets were for T8, but the bulbs I want to use are T12, not sure if he switched them all because the metal plate is 25" and the bulbs are stuck (afraid it'll break if I bend the plate a bit"

T8 and T12 bulbs both use the same socket, G13.

The pic in >>1125711 is the ballast. It is what sets what bulbs you can use. You can use t8HO or t12HO bulbs that are between 10" to 48" long.

The HO stands for high output and is important. You need high output lamps for this fixture. Also they don't twist out but you push the bulbs into one of the holders and lift them out.
>>
my questions are

1) in what manner do I connect the cables of the metal plate to each other/block?

2) if the last sockets are T8, how do I modify them to fit T12

3) I'm assuming the voltages go with the bulbs since this guy did this for a living, but what if they aren't

4) looked online for methods and most YT vids had those double bulb fixtures where the only DIY bit was the frame, and forums didn't have a method similar to what this guy did. Am I missing anything or is this method even correct?

Tell me model of the bulbs you want to use and I'll tell you if they're compatible. For wiring look at the diagram on the ballets. They will tell you exactly how to wire the lamps.
>>
>>1125717
right

none of the sockets had a G13 branding, looking at those online and they don't resemble the ones I have (excuse my simple-ton brain)

the metal plate was too small so I had to cut it to get the bulbs out

turns out he worked around the socket, one of bulbs had two small metal pieces with a plastic cover on them, to give current I guess

found the exterior box to have more info on the bulbs but they don't say HO
>>
>>1125737

looking at the ballast and the bulbs I have now, i'm guessing the F20 bulbs aren't going to be enough for the lamp specs given by the ballast (6)F96T12HO/110W,

G13 is the socket for regular T8/T12. Your sockets are R17d because they're T8HO/T12HO. The bulbs you have are 20 watt T12's. These bulbs are WAY DIMMER than the bulbs that fixture is suppose to have. One of the T8/12HO bulbs would equal the light from almost SIX of the F20T12 bulbs you want to use. There is something fundamentally wrong with your plan and I do not know enough about the silk-printing process to know what.
