Just got an XBOX 360 wireless controller.
Without getting the wireless USB receiver, how do I use this for a windows 10 PC (Desktop - so no bluetooth or wifi)?
Is it even possible?
You have to pay another $15 for that receiver

I think it will be recognized as a USB HID joypad if you just plug it in.

I'm not much for /biz/ answers but that $10 receiver is a real good investment if you like 360 controllers.
Have used one for a long time now.

These controllers only send data wirelessly. The USB charger only provides one function: to charge the batteries.

I'd advise getting the mayflash and using a ps3 controller. xbone controllers are complete shit. i just squeezed my brand new controller with my hands and the trigger buttons popped out so i returned it. how are you enjoying those sharp edges?

not true. the play and charge adapter; imagine this: plays and charges over usb.

He said 360, not xbone. I had a wired 360 controller for PC gaming and abused the crap out of it some years ago. Had I not given it away, it would probably still be used today after the 6 years of abuse I put it through, including spilling soda on it a few times.

Probably useless info.
But i wired an original xbox 1 controller with a usb cable.
Fuck simple to do as its pretty much a usb controller going to a pc already.

Depends on which receiver you have, ultimately. Do you not read product descriptions for the shit you order?

Nope, should have gone wired, enjoy the microwaves

Absolutely true. I have them. The Play and Charge unit does not connect the controller to the host. You will never see it as a USB device in Windows.
plug it in with USB. if you want it wireless you're really better off just buying a Xbone controller with Bluetooth then a $5 bluetooth dongle

it works but you need to get the driver. used a 360 controller for years that way
