long story short, I bought a second hand folding bike and I want to make it some maintenance (mostly cleaning, painting, etc).
questions:
how can I clean rust in chrome?
how can I paint over chrome?
do I have to completely disarm the bike to make he cleaning and painting?
a simple painting will do it? I want to paint everything black as my soul.
I wanted to post this in /n/ but I realize that they will just tell me to send it to a bike workshop.
Pic not related.
Bearings might need to be repacked or replaced. Black is kind of a dumb color for a bike, but paint it whatever color you want.
if you want to do it right...
I'd take it apart, give everything a good cleaning, decide what will be painted, sand/grind/blast down the surface, paint, then use a clear coat on top

to be honest, I don't like chrome, I wanted to make my bike with only one color for easier maintenance.
Thanks for the WD40 tip, that shit is awesome, it's like a magic cleaner

Bearing are ok, maybe I will paint it white, so I could see if rust appears again. Take it apart will be hard, I have never do that before with a bike, but I think it should be done anyway

you can clean and sorta restore chrome by rubbing it with aluminum foil

thanks, but I really don't like the chrome finish. Still, that video will help with the cleaning and surface preparing for painting. Thanks
A quick scuff with 400 grit and you can paint over chrome.
