I have (A), an aluminum flashlight insert I bought to go into a maglite head (B)
I have ground the outside edge of (A) down enough that it's small enough to fit the largest ID of the head, the problem is that (A) won't fit into (B) without a ridge cut into it like on the original reflector (C)
without the proper metalworking equipment, I will have to improvise....a file might work but would take a really long time....a dremel might be the best I can rig up for the moment
maybe a piece of pvc could fit over the end to help keep it steady

take out the LEDs and mount the largest bolt (less than 3/8") you can with lock washers in part A. chuck in drill or better a drill press, use a sharp chisel to cut away the aluminum
since I had the foresight years ago to buy a tap for the dremel threads, I'm going to make a dremel table so I can just spin the insert against a bit at the right height

if you mean to hack off the bottom and make a new post, that won't solve the issue of it being too wide

I meant use the bolt as a mandrel and a drill as a makeshift lathe

I don't think it would be possible to take it apart, at least not without doing more damage
this is the model: http://www.dxsoul.com/product/5-cree-r2-1200-lumen-white-light-drop-in-led-module-52-7mm-42mm-8-4v-max-901035241

i have a similar reflector, except there is no center LED, that's where the screw is to fasten the bottom assembly to the top reflector
you can't pop off the bottom circuit board and peek inside to find a screw or two?
i guess you could roll the assembly in a 90deg angle iron while fixing a dremel cutting disc/grinder at the right distance
anything is better than a file

>I will have to improvise.
make this:
couple of boards
couple of clamps
couple of pin nails

It seems to be pretty solid
I don't know exactly how it was put together, but I don't think it was designed to be separated

basically yes, that's the plan
going to cut and glue a few boards together so I can screw the dremel in, then just set the grinding bit at the right height and turn the piece around it
