I'd cut out the damaged corner and replace that part with a square of wood. Then put a veneer over the entire thing so the gap doesn't show. Repaint. That should work...

Flake or brake off the lose bits, bend the veneer back into shape. glue it. fill it with filler or bondo. sand flush. paint.

Do you have any brake fluid, OP?

You could use wood and bondo or epoxy filler the peanut gallery recommends and then paint the whole thing. Or partially paint it, but the difference will show.
