I want to be able to save text notes inside the calculator. I want to copy in exams and this seems to be a good way. Is it possible? Thanks!

No, not possible

This hardware is super locked tight, it would take a loooot of hardware work to customize the software

Effort spent modding calculator >> Effort spent studying
Encode letters into numbers and store it into memory.
...something preventing you from getting a TI-89? I know there's a text editor for that.

I build arduino hack for an scientific calculator that could emulate and read key presses. Could talk over 433mhz wirelessly to what ever i wanted. Was even able squeeze it back in its original covers.
Not a easy feat i can tell you.
I used to just types notes in the draw section and read them from there.

(OP here) That sounds interesting, can you post the whole project somewhere or give me the source? Thanks!
