If it just left some marks on the microwave, they're ripping you off.
If the house was a mansion and burnt down completely, it's a steal.
There's a lot of in between here, anon.

nobody said you had to be smart with money to rent a house.

And a snake. Can't forgot about Mr. Snek
Rebuild cost always seems a little high, as it includes labour and mark up for materials. So while a sheet of drywall may cost $6, they'll charge you $9 for it and $10 to install it. So it could cost $100,000 to repair $50,000 in damage when all said and done.

Get an insurance claim adjuster, it's worth it.

Sounds like scamming to me.
You can gut and replace everything in a kitchen for a couple thousand if you do it yourself, which I think you plan to do since you're here, but it really depends on how big the kitchen was, the extent of the damage, etc.

My house cost 140k to buy.
The insurance company has said full replacemnt is 250k.
I am insured for 250k.
