Newgger here, I have a shitty LG tracfone and I was wondering if I could put the tracfone's SIM card and put in a s5 galaxy and make it basically work the same as the LG tracfone (like buy minutes and put it into the galaxy instead of the LG)?

unlock
Can you be a little more specific?
If your new phone is unlocked or locked but to the same provider as your old phone then no problem. You just need to check that the sim size s the same.
The new phone is locked to US Cellular. Will it still work?

Sorry I'm still getting used to this system. The new one's locked to US Cellular.

yes provided it is the same carrier or unlocked. if not youll have to sim unlock it or get a compatible phone.

Will I have to unlock the old phone too to erase the phone number on the old one?
US cellular is CDMA. If it's a locked phone, you're fucked until you unlock it.
sim card is your number basically. factory wipe old phone or flash stock rom

no everything is stored in the sim. as long as the new phone accepts it youre golden (UNLESS your carrier has some sort of imei blocking where it only allows a registered imei or whatever to operate that number, but im going to guess no.)

US cellular is CDMA. It's locked. It won't work until he gets it unlocked. That is assuming his current phone isn't CDMA.
Thanks everyone
One more question: If the new one doesn't work, will the old one still accept its own number after its been unlocked as well?

yes. you should search "custom roms" for your phone and the phone you want to get.
