Not sure if here or /g/ would be better to post, but I figured you guys would know it faster.
I'm trying to build my own version of an expensive lamp, and I was wondering if any of you knew where I could get this part. It's an 8x16 matrix of tiny white LED's that vary in brightness. I haven't been able to find it anywhere.
Thanks!

maybe the neopixel product line from adafruit is what you need?

Thank you so much, anon! This is exactly the one I was looking for!

>$8
Maybe it's just me being used to the direct-from-China/bulk pricing, but all these "ready to go" modules I keep seeing seem so overpriced.

adafruit is generally pretty over priced, but I live in nyc so the cheapest shipping option comes in 2 days tops and I like supporting them, their customer service is on point but I also don't buy that much from them/its usually a company card thats doing the buying anyways.

Adafruit, as well as other 'geek friendly' online vendors are always massively overpriced. You can usually get anything for 1/10th the price by buying a chinese clone on eBay and waiting a few weeks for it.
I just searched for an Arduino Teensy, and PJRC sells them for $16. You can buy an ATMega Leonardo Pro Duo (teensy clone, I own a few and they are awesome) from china for $2. Just one example.
