depends on your wingspan.
if you get the right height, a small step is helpful, and you can reach both the end and near the middle you will manage.

sometimes the end has screws on it, sometimes they are on springs.
if its screwed you don't need to unscrew it all the way just loosen it enough to get it out while holding it the whole time.
