Is it possible to polish satin brass to a mirror finish?
I've looked online, but there's no real concise technique for doing so.
Any suggestions?

Yep, I do on knife bolsters from raw lumps of the stuff.
On something like a satin brass sheet, you could start wet sanding at around the 1200grit, then down to a 2000grit wet sand and then hit it with some light buffing. Generally I use a heavy diamond cut polish used in auto shops and it seems to work well.
I guess this would be something difficult to do with just elbow grease, yeah?

Depends how big the work is, rotary tools with the buffing pads can get into squeeze places, but if its big you're better off getting full size pads that bolt onto the side of a bench grinder

It will save you a significant amount of time. Depending on the size of the piece, using a machine will save you dozens of man-hours.
