Hi all. I have this HR2810 that has now recently been giving issues.
It has very low power and the armature and stator get extremely hot very quickly.
Is there any way to diagnose if either the armature, the stator or both are the cause of the problem? It has on new brushes and the communicator is clean.
While it as older beat up tool, the price of an armature is less then 10% than buying a new machine.
I have some experience diagnosing electrical issues on motorbikes but that is a lot easier with a running engine with easy to access connections.
I have the same one. Have had to have it rebuilt twice in three years. Using it about once a month for 30 minutes to go through a foundation wall. The thing works good but had a major weakness in he design

We have used this one a lot over the course of 3 years. Often daily use by heavy handed labourers.
Quite happy with the amount of work it's done. Want it to do some more without having to send it to a shop.
Low power and getting hot? Is it getting hot where the motor is?

Correct.
Just cut the ground rods in half with a Sawzall
Problem solved m8 :^)
I just replaced both the armature and the field coil as the price vs no machine wasn't worth fighting over.
Works now.
