So i'm looking at making a water feature in our back yard, and I would like some advice if what i have planned will work.
I've drawn an image with over 9000 hours in paint. so the plan is to buil 2 tiers of bowls from river stones and mortar. on top of those bowls I would fill it in with a layer of Plastic sheeting and then maybe screed that and cover the inside with small stones. the pump would be housed inside a small chamber inside it, or a submersible pump might go in the bottom pool concealed. The feature goes right next to a power socket so thats not a concern. I'm thinking either a waterfall of one of those japanese bamboo things might be nice to drain water from top to bottom. I'm just not sure if the plastic/screed combo is enough to keep it watertight? Anty other advice would be cool too. I'll post a pic of the corner of the house in question.
Here we go.

A shishi odoshi?
If you want fish you need the special pond rubber stuff. Plastic will leech chemicals over time that will kill them. Also it will crack from the sun. Just stone and mortar will be mostly watertight until it freezes and cracks.
