I'm trying to build/design a custom panel for my jeep to have all the switches and controls all in one spot. I don't like any of the ones I've seen online. Any tips? ~12 switchs, 2 guages, a potentiometer knob, and space for something else, perhaps storage?

I'd build the existing cluster out like pic related, mount your gauges closest to the windshield and your switches wherever. No idea about storage, there's not much easy room for tech and storage short of moar velcro.

steal one from a plane
forget about "overhead storage" in there
Kinda actually what im going for lol. Kinda hard to just steal one however..

I've built a lot of these. Suggest aluminum plate as it looks okay and 0 paint / rust issues. Run a big Guage hot wire fused to battery and run fuse box to it. Make easy access relay panel and buss bars. Takes some time but worth it. Want new lights in x-location? Just do the math and probably tap in 4 feet away and hookup unused wire or run side lights to tell roof bar. Forward thinking helps a lot here. Label and run 30 wires where 5 will do.

Hunt Ebay for Gamber-Johnson and other awesome surplus consoles. Hunt Ebay for aircraft guarded switches and milspec switches.
Blend to taste, and use circuit breakers (blade fuse stylr or the excellent Harley-Davidson types). Hit with corrosion preventive compound inside panel after final assembly and ops checks.
Ebay abounds in good bare crimp connectors and heat shrink. Crimped connectors and pins are used in nearly all modern military aircraft and vehicles. Ignore that plastic sleeved auto store shit except in emergencies when you can heat 'em with a lighter and push out the crimp connector from the sleeve.
So how could i bend sheet metal for a custom panel without a metal press? I want to form a box with it.

Some diyers make simple sheet metal brakes from heavy hinges and angle iron. Lots of examples on the web.
You can also cut your metal and have it bent at a local fab shop or machine shop if they, as many do, have a sheet metal brake.
