So, recently I bought this thing:
https://www.amazon.com/Kemo-Electronic-Ultrasonic-Signal-Generator/dp/B00NRH95AY/
I didn't realize that the unit doesn't come preinstalled with a barrel connector. It just has two wires marked [-] and [+].
Is it possible to take a common electronic device 12v power supply (say, from an old router), strip the barrel connector, and solder the wires directly onto the thing and have it operate safely?
If not, what should I do to power this thing?
Pic related. It's the device in question.
Yes. ensure that the power supply output isn't rippled though, that could cause issues

I thought the whole point of power supply is to provide uniform power? Can I just plug it into a surge protector and make it not ripple? I'm very new at this stuff.

He just means to make sure it isn't a shitty power supply. Poor power supplies may vary their voltage and only average around 12V; better ones will stay over to their target. You could look at the supply's output on a scope to check if you've got one, but if not it'll probably be just fine. Also, make sure your brick is rated for equal or more than the amperage your thing will draw.

Just saw that your device runs on anywhere from 12-15V. You should be just fine even with a shitty supply as long as it can provide enough power.

I see. Gonna strip the connector off of this thing when I'm less drunk and see if I electrocute myself or not.
