If you're going to be abusive, Home Depot sells an HDX or Buck Bros 8-in-1 that's very nice. If you're going to use it for actual screwdriving purposes, the Klein 12-in-1 is top fucking notch.

I'm a tradesman and I have a lot of the gimme 8-in-1s from manufacturers and I just abuse the shit out of them because they're a dime a dozen to me. But for actual work I use the Klein.
>>
>>1088122
This guy knows what's up. Klein any in 1 is good. You can tell he has a real job. Good for you, brother.
>>
>>1088122
>Klein 12-in-1
I lost mine years ago and miss it dearly. been using the cheapo 4 in ones since then.

I misspoke. They're 11-in-1s.

Here are the two I carry on me. The one on the left is 4 years old. The one on the right is 2 years old. Slight wear on the rubber grips but shit, daily use? Not bad.

Don't fall for the 12 in 1 meme. 11 in 1 is optimal because you get three sizes of he's sockets.

I use a Snap-On SSDMR4B that I got on eBay for $50.

Buy American quality and cry once. Don't be penny wise, pound foolish, etc.
>>
>>1088180
>Murrican quality!
No, snapon is the Apple of tools. Yeah they're decent but usually have a 50% tax because of the name.
>>
craftsmen when it's on sale. Don't ever pay regular price because they ask for too much. Plus it comes with warranty.
>>
>>1088218
>[brand x] is the Apple of [product category y]

Dunno what this even means other than "popular for reasons relating to superior usability and/or quality", to be perfectly honest.

Snap-On tools just feel 'tighter' in the hand. It's hard to quantify but if you wrench for a living you instantly feel the quality the moment you get your hands on it.

Trying to mansplain something doesn't work when you are doing it from deep inside the hole of ignorance, buddy. Just let the adults have their conversation and sit in the corner and color.
>>
>>1088234
Handy as hell too. They're a little brittle though.

One of the few Snap-on tools I feel is worth every penny.

My only complaint is that it's shank-heavy and prone to rolling away unless you keep the barrel full of bits.
>>
>>1088245
>Just let the adults have their conversation and sit in the corner and color.

Usually adults arent afraid of spending a little extra money up front for a higher quality tool.

This is not an "apple tax"
This is a "pay extra to have it made domestically with a no question asked lifetime warranty tax"

Those are real tangible plusses to the brand, not just some meme about buying a brand to impress people.
>>
>>1088180
>>1088290

I don't want one with ratching or that allows you to store bits on the handle, it makes it feel like something bought in the el cheapo store.

>>1088230
>>1088167

Those suck. I had the Super 8 as a gift. The bits are cheap and they're plastic handle doesn't hold them for shit after a few weeks.

What? Never had those problems. And the Teeny Turner is the shit.
>>
I agree with the snap on proposal. Got mine in 1990, still going. Was a professional body man till 03 and used it almost every day and it is still my go to driver. I even use it for driving in drywall screws in a pinch. Favorite is using the 1/4 inch bit with a socket. Most versatile nut driver ever. I am a sucker for snap on and mac hand tools. Deffinatley prefer mac air tools though. For some reason they seem to last longer and be more dependable. Whatever you choose, look at quality not price. If you want cheep try harbor freight, but be prepared to throw it away after it's used about 5 times.

I have the Swisstools Insider 1 and like it quite a lot. Good thing is that standard bits are used. Also, the magazine is laid out pretty simple without elaborate swivel systems, so i figure it will last a long time without breaking. There is a short and a long version.
>>
>>1088376
>it makes it feel like something bought in the el cheapo store.

Not the Snap-on ones
I have an orange one and it feels pretty good. By far the best ratcheting one ive used

That was my favorite one before it was stolen. There's a special place in hell for tool thieves.

A friend recently gifted me the Milwaukee that came with the opener, and it's pretty nice. I like that I can use the bits with my impact driver too. The Yankee driver just makes me happy.
>>
>>1088471
I want that but I can't justify the car note sized price.
>>
With these, is it the driver or the bits that wear out? I've got one from some in-house brand screwdriver set that hasn't seen much abuse.

Could be I use them nonstop. They were utter shit when used daily. As a said earlier, I keep the gimme ones on me and use that for a majority of my work. Literally next to my driver seat right now.

Pic related.

/diy/ Go down to the local hardware store and get one for about $5. Collect bit sets as needed.

My wheeler set was about $75 from a gunstore. Prolly $50 online but I haven't checked. Their torque wrench screwdriver is bad ass too if you have a need for it.

My favorite is the one I got from Fleet Farm (store brand). Solid 3-lobed handle (no rubber overmold to wear off), #1/2 Philips, 3/16" and 1/4" flat, #1/2 Robertson, 1/4" and 5/16" external hex. The #2 Robertson is important to me because it's what I use most often. Subcomponents snap together with ball detents.
>>
>>1088452
when i was an appliance repair man, all i used 99% of the time was an xcelite set, nut drivers, 3 slot, 3 philips, adjustable wrench. and pliers

the sets are kind of pricey, but well worth it IMO
>>
>>1088391
they make them also with a rachet

thats the Linus meme one?

They look beefy. Any chafing of the bit? That's my pet peeve with cheapo types, after a few uses with a bit of torque the bit holder gets rounded off...

Magnetic or ball lock?
>>
I have a couple of Klein 10 in ones and a newer 11 in one.
I have a bunch of regular screwdrivers and I rarely touch them as I love the 1x in ones
>>
>>1091410
Klein is love. I'd buy anything they make.

I had one pair of lineman's pliers i welded one handle of to a steel plate then struck the other with a hammer to cut stainless and ER 70 TIG filler when our chop saw died at da welding school. Hundreds of cuts and still working when I left.
