are stiletto hammers a meme? $250 for a hammer seems like a scam but I use a hammer daily and if its worth it I would possibly buy one.
>>
also post more high end tools that are worth the money
>>
$250 for an upgraded rock? Does it even have bluetooth?

Or you could by an old Stiletto from back in the day for $10 off eBay.
>>
>>1083967
Kind of, check out their cheaper wood handle ones. I have one and its pretty nice for 90 dollary doos. Dalluge makes one that feels even better IMO. I will say though that side nail puller is fucking nice as shit.

Also inb4 the never ending b-but muh steel, titanium is great for hammers if you use it everyday in framing and don't want carpal tunnel waking you up everynight or numb hands all day.
>>
Prefer fibreglass handles really. May not last quite as long but far less vibrations and they are cheap. My second pick would be wood simply because you can actually replace the handle if needed
>>
>>1084062
They make wooden handles with the square end, So if your fiberglass one goes to shit you can still replace it with wood if you want. Least you won't have to throw out a perfectly good hammerhead.

What advantages does this hammer have over say, a train, which I could also afford.
>>
I own the first Stiletto made 10 years ago. Paid $70.00 for it. It hangs from your pouches to your ankle... Nail set on top is sweet for setting a nail in tight spots. Yet if you have some 16's to pound or you have to pin and tie concrete forms break out the old Estwing framer
>>
>titanium hammer

Top kek. One hearty strike against the back end of a cold chisel would rape the face of the hammer and turn it into a $250 paperweight.

Steel > titanium.
>>
>>1084699
except for the whole replaceable faces part

estwing was the other option I was looking at but they have a ton of models. the ultra series leather looks like good quality, however its found at Canadian tire which has sold me some shit garbage "homeowner" tools as well.
>>
>>1084732
Ill shill for estwing all day long
Made in a small town in illinois still. Great hammers.

Other than being really tacky looking, the Ultra series feel pretty good in the hand.
Though im not sure you really want an all steel hammer for framing work.
>>
>>1084732
My eastwig I've used for 30 years...broke the first one...most of my tools I've had since 93
>>
>>1084732
Quit going for show...break out an old one and punk these guys vintage style....It aint the hammer its the man!
>>
>>1084777
when you can pound a 16 with two hits...your hammer dont mean shit
>>
I'll post pics of my old hitters tomorrow
>>
>>1084699
hammers for driving nails arent intended for hitting chisels....
>>
If I'm using a cold chisel for someothing I use a 3 lbs sledge...know your tools son
>>
>>1084777
>use shitty $20 rona hammer 5 days a week 8 hours a day for a year. starting to feel the carpel tunnel creeping up.

"it aint the hammer its the man!'

I know it isn't about looks, just want something that's gonna last and not cripple me by 35. rather just buy something on the market right now than looking for a 20 year old one.

Good to know, haven't had to replace one yet. When my axe broke I couldn't find a handle that would fit right
>>
>>1084869
Is the nail starter worth anything?

I hate waffles.
>>
>>1083967
My bro had an estwing framing hammer. Worth the 150 bucks just to stick a nail in the magnet end and start it. Freeing up 50% of your hands is glorious at times

Do you even /DIY/ bro?

It's a Pittsburg pro

Note of point for the future: harbor freight does a number of different things for their tools, most of their standard line of tools fall into the normal category, which means they find a manufacturer in China or India that are already producing the item, and just have them rebrand it

However the "pro" are all designed in house by actual engineers, then they find a manufacturer to make it

These tools are always a surprise by how well they work, and often show how much harbor freight are full of trolls e.g. Their general "pro" tool boxes use the exact same steel plant as snapon but then use a Chinese manufacturer for assembly and use their own casters/sliders

If it says "pro"on it and it's from harbor freight, expect it to be specifically made to mess with a high dollar brand name

Carpentry is in your blood or it isnt...
I've swung a hammer for over 30 years...
Now i do photography and build websites..
I still like the smell of cut wood and having strong muscles...building things
Dont live for money, do what you like...the $ will come
>>
>>1083967
If you buy them and dont have at least a journeyman's ticket u look like a retard
>>
>>1084786
just go for an eastwing, maybe not that nascar version posted earlier, but the stando, run of the mill one.
I'm not a builder, (heavy fab), but almost every chippie I see on site has one, and they all rate them
There has to be a reason they are renound for being great hammers
>>
>>1085812
This. I fucking hated building houses. Especially for communist cocksuckers who didnt have the muscle strength to even bow up at a mutherfucker. Took a metal plate and a fistful of screws to finally get me a sit down job.

Just go to whatever hardware store you prefer and buy pic related
>>
using a steel handled hammer, enjoy your tennis elbow...
>>
>>1085984

I dont use my hammer often and i replaced the broken wood handle with a piece of 14" long galvanized pipe and it is probably the comfiest hammer ever.

The workmen always steal it
