I'm in a 100 hour challenge to make anything out of junk from the organizers. Right now I'm trying to figure out what everything is before I decide what to make and I have this string thing that gets hot when plugged in (I unplugged it after like 30s because it smelled like a hot glue gun) and I don't know what it is.
Anyone know what it is? Is it supposed to get hot or should I not plug it into anything?
It may be one of the things that keeps pipes from freezing in the winter. Or if it gets really really hot, a foam cutter. But I doubt that.
Maybe a heating element from an electric blanket?

It's a electric heating strip. Wrap it around a cone that's placed in a sock and made an electric penis warmer for those cold winter nights.
The most important thing is what temp it reaches. If it hits 180, it's useless for most things on your body. If it reaches 130, you're good to go.
If it does reach higher temps, I'm thinking a kotatsu or whatever. If it's lower temps, a heated toilet seat. Maybe a warming door mat? Or a clothes warmer for your clothes drawers. Set it on a timer for 7-8am and you have an invention.

Old radios had an asbestos covering over some kind of resistive wire to drop the voltage for the tubes, in order to save money. What did this come from?
