I work as a GM for a college, no labour experience. Learnt from books and online reading on commutes etc.

Photos of the interior, love custom boat interiors.

Is that a stripper pole?
Nice ship.
I really like the interior, that woodwork pops.
Did you draft your own blueprints?
Do all/most of the work yourself?
>>1068230
i've done all the work myself besides engine installation and the 240v system.
the blueprints were purchased from bruceroberts. It's a steel dutch motorsailer, 50ft
>>1068206
I like how your correction is the same as your mistake.
>>1068235
>except the engine and the 240v system
Good idea. Floating grounds are tricksy beasts. Even 3 phase can ruin your day if there's a ground fault and other equipment is on the same phase. Fucking Navy ships, man. Giant metal fart/death traps.
What was the total cost of construction?
How thick is the hulls steel?
>>1068201
Top notch.
>>1068245
I read more as "sales... [i can't believe I spelled it that way, boy] I'm drunk, please excuse my spelling"
Op, what's the longest trip you've gone on? What's your favorite port to visit?
>>1068201
is your dog still alive
Very nice, was this designed to be a coastal vessel or a Bluewater crusier?
>>1068271
i'd guess about 90K AUD total spent, vessel is insured for 215K AUD, but obviously i wasn't in it for monetary gain.
>>1068276
our first long trip is in December, cruising from just above Sydney and up to Gold Coast and maybe further north. As of now just weekend cruises around our area.
>>1068278
yes, old girl is 12
>>1068282
Bluewater cruiser, i plan to circumnavigate in it one day. But it's great for weekend trips as I'm learning sailing.
>>1068213
Nice aft, baby ;)
>>1068201
How fast can you sail top speed without engine support? How fast are you on engine?
>>1068201
That's impressive. Very well done OP.
>>1068201
this might be interesting for you, OP

nice work op, im about to start building my own boat. nowhere near as big, just something to take up the river on the weekends
>>1068201
Quit playing with your dinghy.
>>1068206
Kek it's sails drunky magoo. Nice work though. You actually finished a really big project.

It's essentially common ground with no earth and 3 phases of power, so if there is something shorted to "ground", it only effects a single phase (in theory). It's pretty dangerous and all of the electrical jobs on a ship train you to be aware of this and take precautions. There're failsafes, like fuses fucking everywhere, but if there's a ground somewhere and you connect to that particular bit of conductor and another conductor that has a large difference in potential...luckily for us there are panels all over that you can use to check for ground faults. In most cases, it's just bad for the equipment, but those rare cases that you have a high enough difference and happen to grab the wrong thing to stabilize yourself during heavy rolls is enough to give me chills if I think about it too long.
Check this out for some more info

Then again, the thought of getting locked into a flooding space to save the rest of the crew is pretty bad too. Do I go on air and hope for the best, or just take in a lungful of seawater and embrace the drowned god?

>so if there is something shorted to "ground", it only effects a single phase
Oh wow, interesting.
I'll check out the link. Thanks.

10 years is too much my man
>>1070148
Let's see your boat faggot.
Do you ever think of the early work done on it and wish you could go back and do it different?
That is quite amazing. I have a boat which I love but I'd never trust myself to build one - congrats hope you don't capsize
>>1068245
That's an apt metaphor for my life.
