How clogged?

Running slow? Sometimes boiling water is enough to do it since it usually caused by grease and solids.

Barely a trickle? Chemical or mechanical means. Chemical being easier. Mechanical being more effective.

It flows down, but it takes like half an hour, hour.
So far, acidic solutions did not go well. Taking it apart is something I'm worried about. I am not a handy person, I might fuck up. Cleaning it out via "poking" seems viable.

Start by pouring a big pot of boiling water down the sink, you'd be amazed at how often this alone will solve the problem, if that has little or no effect then you should move on to putting a drain snake - drain cleaning rod down the drain, there are a bunch of different types to choose from and they are a good investment for any homeowner to have on hand, lastly I would remove the trap from under the sink and check for more solid obstructions in the pipes, if you still can't find the blockage then it's time to call in the professionals with the long rods and the cameras.

It depends on what the clog probably is.

If you live in an old building with clay sewer pipes, it could be tree roots getting into the pipe joints. There is tree-root-killin stuff for that. (some problems are not worth totally fixing properly, and if you are renting or this is a really old/big building, that could be one of them)

If it's hair, you gotta snake and pull the hair out.

If drain cleaner doesn't make much difference then it can be grease build-up, which drain cleaners don't work well on. Try running the hot water for 1 or 2 minutes (as fast as it will flow down the drain) and then with the hot water still running, pour 1/4th of a bottle of dishwashing soap down the drain. Leave the hot water running for another minute or two; hopefully you will see the water start moving down faster when the hot soapy water hits the clog.

About how long does it take to back up after its drained? If it takes only a few seconds to a minute its a close clog and you can probably hit it with a little hand snake. If it takes a few minutes or longer then its a deep clog and you'll need a bigger gun so to speak. Is it a sink drain or something else?

Generally most household sinks have a trap type system which does its job... until it gets clogged with gunk.
Get a tub underneath it, most are poly fittings you can undo by hand and then just loosen and take it off. Clean it out and fit it back up

Also, i dunp a hole bottle in and plug the drain. Fill sink or stool or tub or wtf ever with hot water and pull plug. The pressure helps remove clog and water washes away the acid. Shit is currosive and fuck and can bubble back out of the drain and boil the finish off of your drain screen. I know because ive done it.
