For some reason I got 10 of them.
Give me ideas on what to do with them.

Make some RJ45 keyring and then make them wall mount key holders
Switch off your internet so you never post again
if you paid like $3 for each one, then you've got ten reasonably good project cases, with power jack already in place, a slot in the back for all your connections, and holes for LEDs in the front. you could use them, for example, as a media centers, or game emulators using RasPis.
the shielded metal case also makes them good for audio projects.

Don't know the price sense it was a friend that dumped them on me. They are pretty sturdy.
Anyway you sir gave me a great idea!
Any more suggestions?

Make a loop and crash them
being an innocuous-looking piece of network gear, you can use to stash stuff like your drugs, jewelry, and horse-porn. or hide a camera inside to catch your sister masturbating to Justin Bieber videos.

Stick an Ethernet cord in each, paint them 1-10 and then swing all 10 around above your head like a madman until one flys off. Take bets from your friends and keep a 20% cut.

Black hole routing, and SPANNING TREE and Redundancy Connections and Bandwidth convergence/Link Aggregation .... But I don't that switch supports any of that crap.
>>1053457
OK how about 10 separate collision domains and 1 broadcast domains. At the 2 layers configure all the devices to have the same mac address and at the IP layer give them each the same ip address and run wire shark.
>>1053624
run wire shark in listening mode and grab the packets...lol idk
>>1053457
make a network.
Sell them on craigslist/amazon.
There isn't much you can do with a 5 port switch unless you have an exact project such as NAS, Cameras, etc. Especially ten of them.
I used one buy running cat6 to my shed and adding a small unmanaged 5 port switch to hook cameras up to so I didn't need to have multiple runs.
Appears to be useless. Routers are superior and newer, there is no reason to use an old switch.

Because only a retard would use a router as a switch...
>>1053642
>Routers are superior switches
Apples are superior oranges
>>1053642
mfw a router lnks two separate networks/subnets and a switch interlinks the same networks or multiple networks within an organization.
Router routes via IP and switch routes via mac... also there are layer 3 switches which use an IP table to route but lack some security features etc.
Bottom line - switches make up the network to interconnect the devices, routers connect those networks together.

what the fuck is wrong with you people

I'm just trying to have fun with said dumb shit.

Hahahahahahahaha

It's really useful to have a dumb switch for when you need to use Wireshark or similar programs to look at network traffic. A router is smart enough to send packets to only the computer that's supposed to get it so you can't see everything by just plugging a laptop into the same box.
I work for a company that develops industrial equipment controlled through Ethernet and we're really in a bind right now because nobody makes cheap dumb switches anymore. We used to ship one with every product because if there was ever a problem we could just ask the technician on site to use it to show us the network traffic. Now we've only got a few left and only ship them out if there is a problem.
Is there a way to increse security with extra routers and switches?

Actually if you go through more router it will be more difficult to hack into due to the tiny lag.
Hook them up to 10 different nukes
